Torn ACL, still ok to workout upper body?

no i did not tear mine, my buddy did a few months ago, and is 98% recovered. However, the doctor told him not to weightlift for a few months when it first happend.. I don't think it would be bad to workout upper body while having a torn ACL....(but then again im no doctor) can u damage yourself more if you do? Just a curious question, thanks!!

    Let it recover, IMO.

i tore my mcl and acl last july , stayed away for a month, and went back to the gym , work upperbody , kinda tuff cause i could really brace myself with my knee torn up , but i managed , and now im back to full blown training legs and all , no pain, no surgery , just depends on if he wants to, and if he can handle a little annoying pain....

i tore mine a month ago and was doing upper body the next day just hobbling on crutches, and there was obvious discomfort but i did not do legs. if he sticks to it like that and goes to therapy to get R.O.M. back then he should be fine working out upper body.
