Best way to cure late night munchies
Okay, my worst thing for me is getting what I call the 10PM munchies. Usually, yogurt, God forbid sometimes even a bagel.
I try to eat as fully as possible before bed, but just is unavoidable sometimes.
That's the worst thing for me as while I'm trying to loose weight, this woudl be a big help to quit the munchies.
Funny, when my partner is here, I note I almost never have late night munchies.
Ideas??

You should just eat a bigger meal earlier. That should lower your cravings. Usually cravings are from not eating enough when you should be so your body craves more food later on. If you still get the cravings just eat some healthy snacks. I would avoids heavy carbs b4 bed. Go with some veggies, fruit, yogurt is good, bowl of cereal... stuff like that. GL man.

When I first made these I was looking for a way to snack on pure protein to help fill me up, every batch of the cookies has around 24g protein and trace carbs depending on your sweetener. And I almost forgot just one batch of these is around 100 - 150 little cookies . Hope this helps!
PS: If you're making them spur of the moment, you might even be uninterested in food by the time they're cooked .
I'll print that one off, that could be good!!

Lean Bulking
I wrestle with this 3 nights a week. My swim practices are 9-10pm. I come home hyper and hungry.
I have a few things handy.
Nuts, dark chocolate (sometimes with a little peanut butter) yogurt, sometimes a protein shake will quash the hunger pangs
I used to be pretty overweight, and although my capacity to eat is way smaller, my hunger pains are very severe.
So an ongoing battle.
On bad nights, I'll make toast with melted cheese, have crackers and other stuff like that. Getting into the breads is bad for me LOL

X2! Cottage cheese is a very good source of Casein Protein
If you are going to eat late at night, you might as well get some Casein Protien in your system.
"Micellar casein, an extremely slow digesting and rich protein source that continues to feed your muscles long after whey proteins have dropped off. In fact, studies with this undenatured form of isolated casein protein (Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 1997 Dec 23;94(26):14930-5) have demonstrated it to sustain steady amino acid elevations for an incredible 7 hours. It was shown to offer a strong anti-catabolic effect not noticed with fast digesting whey protein, and actually fostered a much more positive overall net protein balance in comparison. While whey protein may increase protein synthesis to a very high degree, higher than casein, scientists are now recognizing that micellar casein is much more important in preventing muscle breakdown. In fact, additional research is demonstrating that the slow and sustained release of amino acids from micellar casein can cause a 'timed release' trickle of amino acids into the bloodstream which can last for as many as 7 full hours after ingestion.
Micellar casein is the natural, undenatured form of casein found in milk. It is separated from milk by means of ultrafiltration, without the use of chemicals, which increases the amount of bioactive milk peptides that support immune function as well as enhance muscle growth. A property of micellar casein is that it may have the ability to form a "gel" in the gut. This provides a steady release of amino acids into the blood stream, which makes it an excellent choice for a long lasting anti-catabolic protein."

I would suggest several small meals per day, rather than 3 large ones. Condition your body to being satisfied with small portions.
What I do when dieting, if I really feel the need to eat between meals, I eat a rice cake, 7g of carbs, 2g of protein and no fat. Can seem like eating styrofoam, but it keeps the stomach occupied. Plus, you can put a little natural peanut butter on it if your diet is not that strict.

I find it difficult too especially when I am enjoying a glass of wine.
A few almonds with the wine are lovely but stopping at a few is difficult!
I'd just go to bed early to be honest - or down a shake.

I get them in the middle of the night pretty bad, I should keep a shake in the fridge. I often eat an apple or pear at 1 am just because something sweet and juicy is what I crave when I wake up for a snack.

Hi, i think IronCharles has a good idea to eat more (but smaller) meals during the day. Also so you do not get tempted to eat something bad simply do not buy it when you go grocery shopping. i`ve been craving chips and fatty snacks lately. I`ll say to myself at night that i`m gonna buy some next shopping visit and when i get to that isle i pass it by cause i know how much fat it has. gl

Gargle with mouthwash when you get the PM munchies. If you put anything in your mouth after that it won't taste good.

Frozen fruit. Works like a charm for me. I like frozen chopped rhubarb myself.

I've gotten to the point where I either have an apple with peanut butter or a Whey protein shake. Works better than ice cream. But some times a brandy and coke works pretty good too.

That doesn't work for me... cause when I try it , I enter 'nibble mode', and I end up 'snaking' ALL the time... my own version of automatic-overdrive.
If/when I wake up hungry (or stay up too late) I gravitate toward the milk or a couple pieces of cheese (FF kind) and ignore any 'delayed response' until the snack has time to settle in...

Yep. This is what works best for me. I'm usually in bed by 9:30-10pm. If not the munchie monsters definitely come attackin'. But, unless I have a late supper, I always have a protein shake before bed. A whey/casein, low carb blend mixed with water. It keeps me from waking up starving at midnight. Good luck.
