Can you eat too much fruit?
Hey everyone, I'm wondering if you can eat too much fruit. It didn't really occur to me how sugary it is until recently, and I was wondering if any of you restrict your fruit intake, or only have it after workouts or what. I have sort of been (yikes) using it as a free for all snack.
I'm not sure if you'd want to see an example of my diet or anything, but mostly what eat pints of blackberries, or chopped pineapple, etc. I basically sub it for dessert, but I have a feeling I've been overdoing it because I've been feeding a lot of sugar cravings with fruits for a while now. I'd love to see what you think about fruit in general.

They're full of antioxidants, vitamins , fiber, water... Yes there's sugar but eating fruits has so many pros compared to their sugar content that you should eat them.
Eat you fruits and cut elsewhere or do 30 minutes more cardio if you're THAT worried!

You can eat too much of anything. When creating a nutritional plan, you have to take into account not only the quality of the food, but the macros and portion size as well.

This.
I also wanted to add that you're unlikely to eat too many berries, but pineapple can be dangerous.

Agreed. Pineapple has a lot of sugar - if I'm not mistaken.
If you want to eat fruit, I think some of your better options would be things like berries (strawberries, blueberries) and citrus. (oranges, grapefruits)
Bananas and pineapples have some of the highest amounts of sugar.

what about apples?
I kind of limit my fruit intake, as it makes me bloated. I always have an apple though. Once a day, everyday. I love organic Gala Apples. When and if i have other fruit, its normally berries or citrus fruit

Fruit is naturally high in (natural) sugars, which can be bad for you in large amounts.
A high fruit diet can lead to problems involving the hormones that regulate your blood sugar; insulin, glucagon, and growth hormones.
Some fruits are healthier than others, for example berries, avocados, figs and apples. Stay away from fruit drinks as their concentrated sugars contribute to health problems relating to too much insulin production.
Vegetables are better for you. They contain less sugar, and generally less calories. They'll fill you and provide you with fibre, so try and trade some of your daily fruit for vegetables.
