In the middle of the dinner rush, two gunmen had walked into the restaurant with AK-47s. The waiter points to a table with a pool of blood and the shattered remains of a meal underneath it. They killed the two men sitting there, he says, and shot in the leg a woman who was with them. Then they turned to the restaurant?s photographer ? who went table to table, offering to snap souvenir portraits of the patrons enjoying their seafood ? and they killed him, too.
The waiter is young and streetwise and these are not the first murders he has witnessed. I ask about the sickle-shaped wound on his forehead. When the bullets started flying, he admits sheepishly, he got so scared that he dived headfirst through a plate-glass window on the other side of the restaurant.

yeah they were saying that they average 140 killing per month in tijuana! THat is insanity and the police chief held off a squad of 10 assassins. by shooting at them from his window!

i really don't see it changing, its a poor country and drug traffic is a large part of the economy.

i'm not justifying it at all, that country has so much potential and vast resources. i really feel that the people are letting themselves get run over by these politicians.

yeah man its true juarez they are killing people daily and hacking off heads....also if you are a buisiness owner , or they know you have at least 500 bucks in your account theyll pick your ass up...then let you go and come back for you for more money..... its scary here in el paso, but it hasnt spilled over here yet......but if they want your ass here bet they can come get you, these guys have people in the border patrol , feds, ice...on payroll fellas.....we had a scare here in our office last month, some guys from juarez came in and demanded to meet our boss , and they would come the following day with some associates for a meeting.....everyone was on high alert , im engaged to my boss s daughter and she is prego bet i had my .45 here the next day just in case......shyte is real over here.

i alway preferred juarez over tijuas and chicali.

i doubt the u.s. gov't would allow this....they'll shut the border and no tourism from the u.s. will stimulate their economies.

in tj you can't get in a club unless you're over 18...this is strictly enforced. to many jb's were getting drunk/out of hand and the u.s. told tj if they didn't enforce the over 18 rule. the border would be shut.

the mexican/tj politicians put the squeeze on all clubs.

i can imagine a similar policy taking effect of crime from mexico spills over to the u.s.

yeah but gangs are not so organized.
the mafia or the cartels have this kind of succes because they have a structured hierarchic system. like the military and they now how to corrupt the right people and obtain certain favors and protection.

Gangs are just wannabes that deal within the ghetto, may habve some kind of racket going on, but they will never try to have an open war against the police. they are too disorganized, not have money to buy real weapons and they only act as the smallest dealers.

The cartels instead are business, they have been around for decades have money, resources, both human and military to face the mexican police in an open war.

This is why i don't think something like this would ever happen here in america.

It's a complete different environment from the one present down south.

if you travel with mexican nationals, are of mexican heritage yourself and street smarts on how things work over there ... yeah

but for the tourist outside of the ramifications above, it can be dangerous.

i was considering another trip to san felipe but with everything going on down in mx......i'll just roll to vegas instead.

If the US pulled its head out of its ass, it could stop this violence by legalizing drugs. Mexico would follow, and the criminals would be replaced by (or become) legitamite regulated businessmen, who would have to pay taxes.
