Go ahead and live to your highest standard. Even though you may feel you’re not fully appreciated for it, do what you know is good and right and valuable.
When there’s a job to be done, do more than just getting it done. Do your best.
Perhaps no one else cares, or perhaps they care more than you realize. In any case, what really matters is that you know you are living to your highest standard.
Live to your highest standard, and it will pay off in ways you cannot fully appreciate or anticipate now. Live to your highest standard, and feel the power as it accumulates in the form of confidence, competence, wisdom, patience and true fulfillment.
Listen carefully to what others say, but never let anyone’s shortsightedness bring you down. Find new energy and enthusiasm every day, knowing that you are giving your best to life.
Live to your highest standard, no matter what circumstances you may find yourself in. Live to your highest standard, because deep inside, you know that’s what you really want and what you are meant to do.
Enjoy your life. On this day, in this place, whatever concerns, challenges, opportunities and situations you’re faced with, enjoy yourself.
Enjoy the little, seemingly insignificant things. Enjoy the big, life-altering things.
Enjoy the drama and the peace, the solitude and the fellowship, the activity and the relaxation. Enjoy the work and the play.
Enjoy being you. Enjoy not having to impress anyone, just being able to live your life in harmony with your values.
You work better, play better, sleep better, eat better and experience better relationships when you allow yourself to enjoy. You’re more interesting, more interested, more loving and giving and creative.
It’s really not that difficult to make the choice to enjoy your life. Enjoy your life in an authentic way, and make it a whole lot more enjoyable.
Make today a day of substance. Let go of your concerns about the superficial things that really don’t matter, and devote your energy to the things that do.
Life is a grand experience and there is so much more to it than just keeping up appearances. Even the small, unimpressive moments can be profoundly rich if you’ll just allow them to be.
Remind yourself how fortunate you are to be living this day. See how silly it is to worry and fret over the things you don’t have when you do have so much.
Grab hold of the opportunity that is now. You can make good things happen, and you already know how great that will make you feel.
Look around at the world and smile a great, big, satisfied and joyful smile. Realize, at a deeper level than ever before, how great and limitless your possibilities are.
Use this day for real, substantive progress, the kind you care about so much. Be amazed at the abundance, and be delighted at what you do with it
Act quickly
Problems don't go away by themselves, but opportunities do. If you wait for problems to just disappear, they usually get more serious. And if you dawdle while opportunity is knocking, it soon will leave and knock on someone else's door.
If something needs doing, get right on it. Be patient, yes, but do so while taking action. If you're reluctant to do something that needs to be done, consider that it will only get worse, the longer you wait.
How would you like to have super-human strength? Act quickly, and you can solve 10 problems with the same effort it would take to deal with just one problem which has been avoided and grown to serious proportions. The faster you take action, the more effective you can be.
Certainly you don't want to jump without looking, but as soon as you've decided what needs to be done, get busy doing it. Time is your most precious resource and the less time you wait to get started, the less time you'll spend doing it. Get on it right now!
Ask by offering
How do you ask for what you desire? Receiving what you ask for is primarily a matter of asking in an effective way.
Begging is not an effective way of asking. Begging puts you at the mercy of the other person. Demanding is not a particularly effective way of asking, either. Demanding things quickly uses up whatever power you may have.
An ideal way to ask is to offer. When you offer, you put yourself in a powerful position. You make yourself much more difficult to deny. Think about it. If someone were constantly begging you for something, or constantly demanding things of you, how willing would you be to comply? Yet if someone were offering you something of value in return, think about what a difference that would make.
You have plenty of valuable things to offer -- your time, your experience, your knowledge, your attention, your understanding. There's never any reason to beg. There's rarely any reason to demand. Effectively get whatever you desire by making a compelling offer.
What is easy is not fulfilling. What is fulfilling is not easy.
The effort necessary for achievement is what gives the achievement value. You cannot get anything for free and expect it to make a meaningful difference in your life.
What gives you richness is what you give yourself to. It is a beautiful dynamic and a challenging one.
Grab that challenge, treasure it, work it, grow stronger through your efforts and know the fulfillment it will bring. Find in every day and in every encounter the opportunity to offer life the unique gift of you.
Earn what you enjoy, and enjoy what you earn. Invest yourself in life and take joy to a whole new level.
Now is your chance to give, to make a difference, to make life richer and more meaningful with your efforts. Celebrate life through those efforts, and delight in all the good you can do
You are not that far away from where you want to be. You are only a single decision, a single instant, a single positive action away from the direction you wish to go.
Whatever you seek is within reach. What you must do, is reach.
You will always be pleasantly surprised at how quickly you make progress. Just go ahead and get started.
Learn from all that has brought you to this point. Be thankful for the wisdom, the experience, the strength and the purposeful sense of determination it has all given you.
Then point that determination in a positive direction, and go. Go with gusto, go with enthusiasm and the greatest of expectations along the path that is already in front of you.
Right now, right here, you are not that far away. Step up and make the journey, for you deserve it
Do you wish you had done certain things differently in the past? Going forward, you have the power to make those wishes come true.
There are times when you wish you had been more diligent, more disciplined, more considerate, or any number of things. Though there is nothing you can do about what has already happened, there is everything you can do about what will now take place.
Whatever you’ve wished you had done, this is your chance to do it. This is your opportunity to turn regrets into action.
You don’t have to create any more painful wishes about how life might have been. You can take the actions that will create the life you wish to live.
Take all those wishes about the past and transfer their energy into purposeful actions in the present. Enjoy making life happen the way you choose.
This is your day, filled with great possibilities. This is your moment to stop wishing and start
Look ahead
Waiting on the other side of your problem, there is a solution. On the other side of your discouragement, there is joy. Once you get through your trouble, it will be behind you. At the moment it may seem like everything is going wrong, because you're seeing the world from a negative perspective. The way out is to work yourself through.
The world will look better when you resolve to make it better, when you take the disappointments in stride and refuse to let them stop you. You are better than the difficulties that now plague you. Work through them, put them behind you, and your life will be richer for the experience.
Look ahead, look beyond the disappointments of today. Remember where you're headed. Keep the ultimate goal in mind. What seem to be setbacks are actually steps along the path. Just because you encounter a detour, doesn't mean you must stop. Work your way through and you'll move yourself ahead.
Frustration is caused by wanting to be where you are not, or to do what you are not doing, or to stop what you are already doing. Enjoy where you are and what you’re doing, and frustration is no more.
Of course it goes against your grain to enjoy something you’ve decided is not enjoyable. But it is not as hard as you might think.
Would you prefer to be frustrated, anxious and inefficient, or would you rather choose to enjoy the moment? Do you want your attitude to work against you, or would you like your attitude to work in your favor?
Can you find it within yourself to be at peace with the moment, with the situation, with the task at hand? Of course you can.
Let your choices, rather than habitual reactions, determine your state of mind. Let yourself be your best by letting go of the need to fight against whatever is going on.
Express your high standards not by getting frustrated, but by getting peacefully and purposefully busy. Be at peace with the moment, and enable yourself to live it at your best.
You deserve to look forward to tomorrow with eager anticipation. What will make you able to do so are the actions you take today.
You deserve a great tomorrow, and you have the opportunity to earn it today. With your priorities and your actions, you can make use of today so everything falls into place for a rewarding and fulfilling tomorrow.
The good thing is, you can enjoy yourself today while putting in the focused effort that will produce a great tomorrow. Knowing that you’re headed in a positive direction is enough to improve whatever situation you’re in.
Tomorrow is not that far away, and now is your chance to fill its moments with precisely the kind of life you envision. Realize the power of the opportunity you have, and make full use of that opportunity while you can.
The direction you choose right now will determine where you are when tomorrow arrives. The things you do on this day can give great value to the life you live tomorrow.
There is a gift you can give yourself at any time, in any place, that will make you feel great. It is the gift of achievement.
Nothing feels quite the same as making the effort that results in achievement. When you make that effort, and reach that achievement, it helps not only you, but the whole world as well.
Achievements can be big, spread over many years and requiring thousands of people. Or they can be much smaller, taking only a few minutes and yet making a real difference.
Yet no matter what size the achievement may be, it always feels great to make a difference. And no matter what situation you are in, there is always a way to make that positive difference.
You can give yourself, and your world, the gift of achievement right now. The more you do so, the more richness and fulfillment you’ll experience.
At its very core, life is about making a difference. Now is a great time to give to yourself, and to everyone else, the
Are you not sure where to start? The place to start is where you are.
Are you having trouble deciding on the first step to take? Just pick a step, take it, and you’ll suddenly be in a much better position to know what must be done next.
Instead of waiting and wondering, speculating and procrastinating, worrying and making excuses, just go ahead and start. Put your time and energy into moving forward.
You may not get it exactly right at first, in fact you probably won’t. Yet even if you make some initial mistakes, that’s a whole lot better than doing nothing.
Start where you are, and go from there. Start where you are, and discover how much you enjoy the effort.
The best way to know what to do next is by doing what you can do now. This is where to start, so do.
Plunge in
You only have so many hours in each day. Time is the most limited resource there is. You can choose to spend that time on the easy stuff, and get a little bit accomplished. Or, you can decide to work on the toughest challenges, and receive maximum return for the time invested.
Think about it. Is it any more painful, or any less desirable to resolve the difficult challenges? No, not really. That's just a perception. The real pain comes from being confronted with the obstacle, not from working to overcome it.
To get maximum results from your efforts, plunge into the most difficult challenges first. You'll stand out from the crowd as an effective problem solver. You'll learn more. You'll develop a much greater degree of confidence. You'll create more value. You'll get farther, faster.
Get the highest return on the investment of your time. Seek out the difficult challenges and make the very most of your efforts.
It's done
You made a mistake. Or someone else did. Or perhaps something didn't work out the way it should have.
Whatever it was, it has been done. No amount of agonizing or criticizing will change that. To wish that it had never happened, or to pretend that it didn't, would be a waste of good experience.
Find a way to make the best of it. You can't go backward in time, only forward. And as you go forward, you always have the opportunity to move yourself ahead, regardless of what has happened before.
Make the best of what you have and stop worrying about how you got it. Accept that what's done is done, and focus on the future. Put your energy and effort where they can make a difference, and they will.
One step
No matter how long you've been walking north, in just a single step you can be walking south. What does it take to turn your life around? Just one step.
You are one step away from eating a healthier diet, one step away from being a better parent, one step away from improving your finances, one step away from becoming more skilled in your work, one step away from a more fulfilling relationship.
One minute from now, your worst problems can be behind you, instead of in front of you. In a single step, your best day can be yet to come, rather than long ago in the past. In an instant, your negative energy can be redirected toward making a positive difference.
Just one step can change your momentum, and start you in whatever direction you truly want to go.
Persist
When you're tired and your energy is gone, when problems pile on top of problems, and you don't know where you will get the strength to keep going, that is when the race is almost won.
When you've encountered every obstacle that you could possibly have imagined, and then been faced with many more, you're rapidly approaching your goal.
That is when a little bit more persistence can make a big, big difference. The longer you persevere, the more likely is your success. Each challenge you meet serves to solidify your achievement.
The exhaustion you feel is priming you for the sweet taste of accomplishment which is to come. Keep going for as long as it takes. The steeper the climb, the closer you are to the summit. Persist, especially now.

The momentum of success
Every great achievement builds on accomplishments that preceded it. The new, powerful computers which we now use were designed and produced using the previous generation of computers. New works of literature are full of allusions to earlier works. Artists develop techniques which draw heavily from previous methods. Successful businesses often adopt and improve upon the strategies used by others.
Whatever you wish to accomplish, you don't have to start from scratch. Rather than begrudge the success of others, find a way to build upon it. With each achievement, comes countless opportunities for even greater achievements. As the world grows more successful, there are more and more ways to become successful.
The same concept applies on a personal level. Even a very small success, can be used to build a greater success. Achievement has infinite potential. Anyone can start with a small accomplishment. And when you do, you're on your way to greatness.
Change the world
Every day you change the world in some way. You cannot avoid doing it. After this day is over, the world will be a little bit different place because of what you have done. Will it be a better place, or worse, or just different? That depends on what you do.
Why should you care? Because you are a part of the world. The positive things you do, come back to you, as do the negative things. You cannot escape the consequences of your own thoughts and actions. So make them the best that you can.
You can change the world. You will change the world. You do change the world. You have the power and the ability to change it for the better, right this moment and every moment. As long as you're going to change the world, you might as well change it in a positive way.
You're changing the world. It's a big responsibility and a tremendous opportunity. Make the best of it, today and every day.
Recipe for greatness
Take something ordinary, add some focus, commitment and effort, and you have greatness. Greatness arises out of the common and the ordinary. The raw material of greatness is nothing special. A magnificent mansion is made out of ordinary wood, bricks and nails. A literary masterpiece is printed on ordinary paper. A beautiful symphony is performed with ordinary musical instruments.
Greatness depends not on what we have to work with, but on what we do with it. Greatness is achieved not because of what we have, but as a result of what we do.
Though greatness by definition is rare, it is within the reach of anyone. Because the greatest greatness comes from common, ordinary beginnings. Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you have to work with, greatness is always waiting for you to make it happen.
The odds of success
If you desire to achieve success, the odds are against you. Outstanding success is so celebrated and admired precisely because it is so exceptional and difficult to achieve.
In terms of sheer numbers, the odds are against you. But the odds don't matter. Because success does not result from blind chance. There really are no odds, as such. There are only results.
You have every opportunity to make your own results. Your results are not determined by statistical percentages. They are determined by your own action and commitment. The fact that only a small number of people in your position ever make it to the top, has nothing to do with the opportunities available to you. In fact, the more the odds are against you, the more special it makes your achievement.
Put the odds in your favor by refusing to let them limit your possibilities.
Success is tedious
Success is often tedious. When we see success in others, it looks exciting and fun. We see someone who is successful in business living in a magnificent house, driving a shiny new car and taking exotic vacations. We see a successful athlete being cheered by the crowd after a winning performance on the playing field. We usually see only the results of success in others.
What we often fail to see and appreciate is how they got there. The person with a successful business has spent many long, boring hours, working late into the night on tasks that no one would consider fun or exciting. The winning athlete has spent day after day on the practice field and in the weight room, laboriously training mind and body.
Those who understand, appreciate and accept that the road to achievement can often be tiresome, those who are willing to do whatever it takes, no matter if it is often tedious and boring, are the ones who will get the reward they seek.

Whatever you make
Most anything that happens can be useful to you, or it can set you back, depending primarily on what you make of it.
Get into the habit of asking yourself "how can I make the best of this?" For example, a couple of hours ago I jumped into my car to make a 10-minute run to the post office. Along the way, a 2-inch bolt became imbedded in my right front tire. Now I'm sitting in the waiting room of a tire dealer, getting the damage repaired.
I could have spend a few hours fretting about the loss of my time, and how unfair it was. And I must admit, I did spend a few minutes in that mode. But then I asked myself, "how can I make the best of this?" The answer -- get out a pen and paper and write this message.
The various circumstances in which you find yourself can serve as excuses, or they can be turned into opportunities. What's great about the time and place in which you find yourself? Whatever you make of it.
Shine
Just one light can make a big difference, when there is darkness all around. When you turn on a light in an already lighted room, you make it just a little bit brighter. But when you turn on a light in a room that was completely dark, you significantly change the environment. The light reveals possibilities. It make obstacles less menacing. It makes the situation clearer and easier to understand.
The more you are surrounded by negativity, the more impact you can have by being positive. Just one person who insists that yes, we can get it done, and who steadily works to make it happen, can achieve astonishing results.
If there is negative energy all around you, see it as an opportunity. Consider how much of a difference you can make with your positive thoughts and actions. Turn on your own light, and those nearby cannot help but see. The darker it is around you, the brighter your light will shine.
Looking back
The past is history, that is true. It cannot be changed. But when we ignore and fail to respect the past, we put the future at risk. Though the past cannot be changed, still it is valuable for what it can teach. Attempting to live in the past is folly. Yet learning from the past is the cornerstone of wisdom.
The past can be an entirely positive influence because we are able to take from it only that which is useful, and transcend the rest. The past is compelling only to the extent that we make it so.
Though the past has already happened and you cannot change it, you can take from it precisely what you want to take -- nothing more and nothing less. And because everything you currently know came from the past, that puts you in complete control of your life and your world. Your past does not control you. You control it. It influences you in whatever way you allow it to do so.
Take the best from the past, and use it to build your own bright future.
Can you see it?
Can you see the possibilities for improvement in a seemingly hopeless situation? Can you see a small glimmer of light when there is darkness all around? Do you have the courage and determination to move yourself toward that faint light, so that it becomes brighter by the day?
Can you envision your world as being better than it is today? Can you imagine in rich detail the dreams you hunger to achieve? Are you able to see clearly the path which will take you from where you are right now, to where you want to be? Do you have the discipline to go ahead and take the next step on that path? Do you have the perseverance to continue taking step after step, even through the setbacks which will surely come?
Yes, you do. Yes, you can see your dreams. Yes, you can chart your course for success. And yes, you can reach it. You already have everything it takes. All that remains, is for you to decide to do it.
Yes, you can see it. You just did. Now go out and make it happen.
