Cliff notes...tilapia even though it is a fish, probably isn't the best choice to eat.

Well, I certainly don't like the idea of tilapia being used to eat $hit. I buy mine from Costco and I wish I could find out where their source is from.
I googled the subject and I found this piece. It also says shellfish are bottom feeders and fertilizer is used to grow things like tomatoes etc. And don't pigs eat their own feces? (I don't eat pork that often....bacon every now and then). Even so, I probably won't be buying tilapia any time soon.
Based on the last thread I've ventured out into sardines and smoked herring on crackers. They make for great snacks when I go on long hikes or rollerblading.

This is the third time tilapia have been brought up here since the first villification article showed up a few months ago. I think avoiding tilapia is like avoiding cheese because it has too much fat or avocado because it has too much green.
If you were going to eat tilapia for every meal every day, or even three times per week, it might have a negative effect on your health. I don't know about everyone else, but I have tilapia once every two or three months. I think the lean source of protein far outweighs any possible negative side effects of eating a pound of it per day.

Catfish and eels, not to mention shellfish, consume waste too. It's not like we're eating their digestive systems. These organisms derive nutrition from other organisms' waste.
And if we want to get right down to it, the much sought-after lobster is nothing more than a large ocean-going cockroach. Yes, closely related arthropods."Go home, have a beer and smash something. That's what I would do" - Unknown (but probably Thor).

Lots of animals eat their own and other animals' feces. I'm not about to stop eating pork because of it. Once the body breaks it down in the digestive tract, it becomes its components, just like any food we eat.

For the record, fecal matter is very high in nitrogen. The only thing that makes it not a food are the bacteria. That's why vegetables grown in dung don't have the kind of nutrient depletion that unfertilized soil has.
