    Question Boneless vs. Regular Wings

    Yes I know, both are very unhealthy for you. Sometimes I get myself caught in binds though where I'm out to Buffalo Wild Wings, Taco Mac, etc. and everyone is ordering them and I can't resist.

    In this case, does anyone know if boneless or regular are better than the other in terms of less calories and fat?

    Keep in mind, I am impartial to either one (love the taste of both), so even if one or the other is marginally lower in calories/fat, I would rather go for those.

    boneless are usually lower in fat because they usually include white meat. this differs based on the restaurant though

    it is pretty much a lesser of two evils type of thing though, so just go with what you like. if you want to reduce the calories and everything you could try getting the sauce on the side and just dont use much. you could also see if you can get the boneless wings grilled. they might look at you weird and you friends may heckle you, but you will look better in the end

    buffalo wild wings:

    regular 3 wings:

    150 cals / 10g fat / 2g carbs / 14g protein

    boneless 3 wings:

    150 cals / 10g fat / 2g carbs / 14g protein

    according to a search they are the same. i usually get the naked tenders which are 3 tenders:

    129 cals / 6g fat / 18g carbs / 6g protein

    thats the totals without the sauce. now looking at this side by side ill be getting regular wings, what the hell are they putting in the naked tenders to have that many carbs and such lower protein?

    if you go to BW3 get the naked tenders. there is no breading and its not fried. its just grilled chicken strips. dip them in hot sauce. have a guinnesses and enjoy.

    The naked tenders are really good, but I'm always still hungry after getting an order of 6. Lately I've just been getting 18 bone-in wings rather than toying with naked tenders (which are also more expensive). I don't really like boneless, though.

    Why are they unhealthy? If I couldnt eat buffalo wings I would quit bodybuilding.

    As long as you do not eat an absurd amount that causes you to take in too many extra calories you are fine eating any of them.

    I'm assuming by "boneless wings" you mean the chicken "tenders" (i.e. breast meat in small piece or strips) that are prepared like wings and served with buffalo style sauce. If so, then they will defenitely have less fat and cals on a gram by gram basis. Real wings have skin and a bunch of fat between all the different muscles of the wing. The boneless is just a big hunk of meat.

    This assumes of course that they're both fried/batterered/whatever in the same way. Otherwise, it's an apples/oranges comparison.

    AFAIC it's all about the REAL wings, though. The boneless wings are pointless in my book. Don't taste right- the skin is where it's at...

    That's the problem. 3 wings have 150 calories without the sauce (boneless or not it seems), and I will usually have at least 8 of them with sauce (looking at around 500-550kcal at a minimum).

    I suppose it's not TOO bad, but certainly not ideal if trying to get ripped.

    I'll probably give the naked tenders a try next time.

    For a 30 cal difference, I would definitely go with regular wings.

    I may do that as well, except with the boneless.

    Personally I just like medium sauce. Their hot is too hot for me. At Hooters I go with hot because the medium does not have enough kick.

    im a fan of really hot stuff, thier blazing is ok can be pretty hot depending. but for flavor i like the hot bbq, and the carribean jerk. the asian zing is pretty good too

    I contacted buffalo wild wings a while ago to get their nutrition info because I absolutely love them. They usually provide me with my cheat meal for the week. Here is the info they sent me:

    Wings w/ sauce (Each): 72 cal, 5g fat, 6g protein, 0 carbs
    Boneless Wings w/ sauce (Each): 88 cal, 6g fat, 5g protein, 3 carbs
    Naked Tenders (Each): 43 cal, 2g fat, 2g protein, 6 carbs

    Hope this helps

    PS. My favorite sauce is Caribbean Jerk

    Edit: Oh yeah and if you want the nutrient info for their whole menu just e-mail them and they will send it to you

    just go wednesday and get 3 legs for $1.50. More meat in relation to skin/fried parts.

    Don't go in with wing mentality and order nine. It's just too much. 3-5 is a good amount of meat.

    Appreciate the information. Wonder which type of sauce they used for their calculations as there are some fairly reasonable differences between the nutritional content of some of them.
