Are people really going to spend $1,100+ for the base model iPhone 8?

This. And with the way plans are priced out these days, you don't notice either. That's the sad part. I switched over to AT&T because my old phone broke, and I wasn't in for an upgrade yet. I pay actually a little less through AT&T than I did Verizon, but im "paying" $2X a month for the phone. So either way, I'm paying the same amount, just get a "discount" in a year when I pay the phone off.

They're pushing for a single platform; you buy the phone and plug in a keyboard/mouse/monitor when you want to use it as a desktop or whatever. iPhone 8 apparently will NOT have the desktop mode, which is stupid as hell, though. So, no, not worth $1100, they're just getting you used to the idea because in a couple years no one will have laptops/desktops anymore except programmers and graphic artists.
LOL I DUNNO
**** a $1100 phone...does anyone actually make phone calls anymore? Dead serious question.Best thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=168274783

Through apples upgrade program it'll cost around $46 a month. My sister is paying ~$39 a month for her 7+.
With how freely people spend money I don't see the price increase hurting their sales all that much. I'm sure Apple will have a promotion to get $xxx for trading in your iPhone 6/7 as well.GSD/corgi owner crew

this is exactly their intention. its the same thing I do when I sell a managed service to a customer. start with a hosted infrastructure model, then bolt on managed backups, unified communication, etc.
get people used to paying a monthly recurring charge for their phone (this was done years ago) then slowly jump the payments in small 10%-ish increments.Lets Go Brandon

At this point people will keep buying iPhones no matter how high price is.
Worst case scenario Apple will have to release some iPhone 8 Minus Poverty Edition, but it will only make iPhone 8 more exclusive and elite and therefore more desirable.
Apple won the marketing game long time ago so now they can do whatever they want and people will eat this chit up and beg for more.

It's not an apple phenomenon. They just happen to be the first, then everyone follows suit. If the remaining companies didn't follow suit, it wouldn't happen. Like I said in the previous post, last year switched and got a new phone. Looked at all the options, and ever single comparable model (apple or android) was pretty much within $1 of each other a month.
lol at not taking advantage of an interest free loan. And youre 10k/day, you should know this.MFC

What a time to be alive!
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."
