Misc What Is The Fastest Internet I Can Get For 50 Bucks A Month (No Comcast)

I had Comcast once, and it was very unstable. TBH I think the technicians didn't have the slightest clue what they were doing. They told me that my cable was poorly installed in my home because they couldn't find the source of the problem.

Right now i have Earthlink DSL, and it fukin sucks. My maximum upload is like 50 kbps, which is fukin terrible. My max download is like 200 kbps or somthin.

Very ****ty, and I'm paying about 49.99 a month for it too. So misc, help me out, so i don't get ripped off anymore..

i just tested it.

but thats not right, theres no way my upload is that high....and i have never seen my download go above 1000 kbps

50 bucks a month for that crap speed??

Well if you don't have access to a good cable source, If you are in the coverage area the only other thing I would go with under 50 bucks a month would be Clearwire.

i think im looking for dsl, because i dont want to take a chance getting cable again if the cable in my house is ****ty like comcast said.

i live in comcast's hq city and its so overused that you can't get it that fast here

at my college apartment (im posting from home because of spring break) we have comcast and its probably less than half that at non peak hours

no offense. is that 49.99 monthly rate inclusive of other features such as cable TV? If not your getting ripped off like no other. I have heard good things about Verizon Fios, but it all boils down to availability in the end. I dont have many options back at my parents house because of the location. I think my parents pay roughly $30 just for the internet and i believe we get 5 mb downstream. check out www.dslreports.com, they use to have a section where they tell you what most people in your area have.

divide what speedtest tells you by 10 and thats your actual bandwitdh...so you can download @ 120 KB/s and upload at 30

Optimum Online serves Long Island, other parts of New York, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester, parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania (wikipedia)

i used to have internet at that speed at my old apartment last year and it was FREE
