Keeping mats clean
I just recently purchased mats at my gym for (myself mostly haha) a bjj class that i will be teaching here. I am however unsure what product to use to disinfect the mats with in order to keep staph and other bodily germs down.
Anyone lead me in the right direction?

Do not use bleach. It will destroy your mats.
You need a special mat soap, and a brush that picks up skin particles instead of pushing them around. I will google and try to give you something exact.

I currently use a little "ball" of soap that dissolves into the water but I can't find it online anywhere.
Also as for the brush, I just use a swiffer wet mop and according to the person I took over for it picks up the skin particles.

We use hospital disinfectant. More powerful than mat cleaners marketed for wrestling mats and the residue isn't harsh on your skin when you're rolling. Doesn't mess up the mats either.

I'll look at the brand on the soap tonight or did up the requisition papers for the club, because I need to order some more soon and that is by far the easiest way to do it.

At the high school I coach at, we have used 2 caps of bleach to sprayer full of water for years upon years. The mats are just fine. We also have some brand name mat cleaner that's 50 bucks for 3 gallons. you add 2-3 capse per so many gallons of water in our sprayer. I'll check what the brand is tomorrow, but this stuff works awesome and kills everything. But still, I dont see a problem with using bleach water.

go to your local tattoo parlor and ask the owner what he cleans his equipment with. it has to be non-corrosive, so it would probably not be harmful to the mat.
