    Hmotb in training!!

Ok so I've decided to keep a journal on here because I have so many questions and instead of hogging up the forum, I will just keep a journal to hopefully get support and tips on reaching my goals.

Ok first off, I was heavy into bodybuilding before I had the toddler and I took a break during pregnancy and all that good stuff...Afterwards, I faced a horrible break up with her father, who just happened to be my first and only love, so I had to move and pick my life back up and keep moving forward. So I did and had to get the hang of motherhood, school and working, and working out....that took awhile Anywho I got back into my bodybuilding around December 2008 and so here I am now...I have always ate healthy but getting these macros is giving me a run for my money but I'm doing a lot better.

Although, I love bodybuilding for the sake of loving weightlifting, I have been into weights since middle school, I would like to compete just to see where I could take myself and my body. I am currently changing my workout routine every four weeks so if you guys know of any routines feel free to throw them my way! I love hearing new ideas.

I am throwing out the scale and anything that has to do with numbers. LOL! I am focusing on how I look, how my clothes feel, and how my measurements change over time. I'm actually not even really going to write down the measurements in my book at home, I'm going to write down the difference from the previous measurement. I will keep the measurements here though for the sake of the goals I listed on my profile.

I have pictures posted in my profile but I will post pics here where I'm in a bra n panties. I'm trying to become more comfortable in sporting my figure to mentally prep for competing. It's not that I don't like the way I look because I think I look pretty good, but I was just not raised to display my body and so I've never worn a two-piece or anything short or revealing in my life. Honestly, my workout clothes are the most revealing things I've ever worn out of the house LOL! So it's just going to take some getting used to. My mother saw my profile page when I was on here one day and was like "I do not approve of that nakedness!" So yeah that's where I'm coming from....anywho I think that's good for the first post. I'm waiting for aunt flow to leave so I can take some recent pics that show my form better! Thanks if you've read this much...I promise to not make all my posts this wordy!!!

I did my tae bo workout with my resistance bands this morning and tonight I did my triceps using my resistance bands. I can't really lift any weights because my right wrist is still sprained and I need to really focus on letting it heal. I never knew how much I used my wrists for until one wasn't working LOL! Driving has been a pain and I have to take my splint off to write... I tried to just lift lighter but that is only stalling the healing process and really having a weak wrist is really not the business....the upside to this is that my lower body is going to get some great workouts while my wrist is healing....I am going to rest my wrist as much as possible and just focus on my abs and legs.

    Congrats on starting a journal!!!

I'm happy to see that you're keeping a journal!!!! Saw your other thread about possibly competing in a couple years. I think you have lots of potential, and you sound like a good lifter! :-)

When that wrist heals, do keep a log of your exercises!

No need to hurry on pics. I find it soooo much easier to keep track of progress by keeping track of my weights/reps lifted. I bring a log book to the gym. I don't bring it every single time, but I usually have it.

The body changes slowly, but weights/reps sometimes change once every couple of weeks or so.

When you get where you want to do pics, it might be easier to do them with a bathing suit or a slightly more glitzy workout top, rather than underwear. You can always start out with a one-piece or something sort of on the modest side. Sometimes the stores run 75% off sales on them, so you can get one for cheap.

I went to go try to buy a bathing suit today and that was just draining! My boobs don't fit into anything! I wasn't surprised because my boobs haven't fit into anything since I turned 14. I'm thinking how do to those playboy bunnies find bathing suits? I'm an F cup so for me finding things to hold these jokers is always a chore. The upside though is that when I was in the fitting room, I noticed that my quads looked more muscular and I looked pretty good naked! So I know underneath this fat is a muscled physique waiting to be unleashed! LOL! Another good thing today was that I was in the mirror getting ready for an interview and I could see my clavicle bones coming through and my chest and shoulders just looked nice...my upper body is coming along nicely! (come on lower body, catch up! LOL) Tonight is the night for abs so I will just my resistance bands, my balance ball and my dumbbells and then probably jump rope afterwards.

    Hey girlie!

I saw you post on the boards and was wondering why you didn't have a journal. Congrats on starting one!

I hear you about the swimsuit dilemma. My chest is a 34ddd - so it's hard to find a swimsuit that fits my boobs and doesn't sag around my hips or waist. I have to go to a swim shop that specializes in large chested women and get one there - but they're always so expensive! And don't even get me started on finding bras...lol..

Anyways, glad to hear you're so motivated! Just remember to be patient and you'll meet your goals!

Thanks for the encouragement ladies!!! I took some pictures and I can see progress!!! I'm so excited! I will post them but I don't think the quality was good because of the lighting. I only have a picture of the stomach area. I am hoping to have a friend come over and take a full body picture for me so I can show the change in my legs. I looked in the mirror this morning and I just couldn't believe it! I mean everything is looking slimmer and I know that I have still have a ways to go but to finally see progress without measuring tape is so motivating and encouraging! It only makes me want to work harder! The first picture was taken in February and the second one was taken last night...please excuse my nakedness! I will be back later to post my workout. This morning I jumped rope for 20 minutes with intervals of 1 minute jumping and a 30 second rest period....Thanks again for the encouragement and kind words!

    Tonight was for the legs!
    sets/reps- 3x12
    barbell lunges- 65lbs
    Barbell squat- 115lbs
    Wide legged squat- 115lbs
    hamstring curls- 45lbs
    leg extensions- 70lbs

My hamstrings are sooooo behind my quads any tips or advice about how to build them up would be great! I feel the muscle in the lower part of the hamstring, but when you get up around the glute area it starts to get "not firm" again...I need to find a way to work that area....so yeah ladies any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

    You're doing wonderful...keep it up!

As for your hamstrings...Leg Curls, Lunges will build muscle. Keep them focused and consistent.
As you lean out (loose bodyfat) you will see your upper hams/glutes become more visible and harder.

    Have a Great Day!!

Thanks buffy cat! I am working 'em hard!

    My ab workout for tonight

    sets/reps- 3x12

ab roll out on knees- 95 lbs with the barbell
    butt ups
    decline crunch- 10 lbs plate
    knee raise on parallel bars
    weighted sit ups w/bands
    db side

Edited to add: I also tried this supplement to take during my workout and I definitely felt more energized and not as exhausted after the workout was over. Some people recommend Xtend so I will order that and try it out...but if I don't like it I have the supplement I am taking now....but from the reviews I think I will like Xtend very much

I am soooo ready for spring break! I honestly don't know what possessed me to take 4 tough classes this quarter!!! Thankfully it'll all be over this week and then I am going shopping next weekend because I definitely deserve a new wardrobe! I haven't bought myself new clothes in months! I feel like all my money goes to my daughter, who's drawers and closets are overflowing with new stuff LOL! I think it's time mommy got some new things I have a portfolio to work on and I took a health class this quarter as part of my credential and master's program. So that was pretty cool because it helped me stay focused on my goals, but I am just soooo tired this week!

Also I was wondering if any of you would mind critiquing my nutrition plan. My macro breakdown is 40p/35c/25f and I have my meals broken down here
....I also started taking this protein/carb drink to have during my workouts...I'm currently waiting for my Xtend to come
On the days I do cardio I eat like this....the numbers are in grams
    pre-cardi0 29p/40/5
    post cardio- 29p/30c/3f
    meal 3- 29p/20c/9f
    meal 4 29p/9f
    pre-workout meal- 29p/30c/10f
    during workout -20p/20c/2f
    post workout- 29p/30c/5f
    meal 7 -29p/5c/15f

    that equals about 223p/175c/58f

    on non-cardio days

    meal 1 29p/30c/7f
    meal 2 29p/ 30c/8f
    meal 3 29p/15c/ 8f
    meal 4 29p/15c/ 8 f
    pre-workout 29p/30c/10f
    during workout 20p/20c/2f
    post-workout 29p/30c/5f
    meal 7 29p/5c/10f

    equals 223p/175c/58f

So I try to eat around that breakdown every meal giver or take 2-3g...I eat a lot of chicken breasts, I do oatmeal in the morning and the rest of my carbs come from fruit, vegetables and beans. I eat cottage cheese with some peanuts before bed and most of my fat comes from peanuts or sunflower seeds. I feel like my diet is working for me and seems pretty solid but any feedback would be great! Thanks!!!!

Took measurements this morning! My arms and thighs stayed the same but i lost between 1/4-1/2 an inch off every where else..yay! I'm excited because I increased my cals and so I'm glad to still be making progress. I did add an inch to my calves but those things look and feel solid! Also my weight did not change so does that mean I only lost fat? That would make my day if it did!!!

This just makes me want to work harder and harder. I'm buying more plates and dumbbells today and I'm going to get wrist straps because I think I aggravated my wrist again on Chest day. it felt fine but then the day after it was sore again and I forgot to take my anti-inflammatory pills so I am still doctoring up that right wrist because I want to make a full recovery and try not to damage it more....also the toddler has a habit of wiggling out of my hands, which does not help the wrist either LOL! I think I will go back to wearing my splint during the day....have a good one everybody!

Edited to Add: I meant to say lifting straps not wrist straps.....I want to take some of the pressure off my wrist until it heals

I tried to post last night but had technical difficulties! so this is my leg workout from last night...and I must say it was a good one!
    setsxreps: 3x12

    db lunge- 25's
    romanian deadlift- 95lbs, 105, 105lbs
    db rear/reverse lunge-25's
    pile squat-25's
    barbell deadlifts - 105lbs
barbell straight back, straight legged deadlifts ( I only did 10 reps on this one) 105lbs

My grip is so not as strong as I need it to be and then my hands start to hurt even though I'm wearing gloves!. I need to get heavier dumbbells for the pile squats, which means I have to go back to the fitness store

I also did a few floor exercises with the resistance bands to work my abs...but had to stop because the toddler decided that instead of going to the bathroom, she wanted to leave a trail of pee from the living room to the bathroom LOL!

I am officially on spring break! So far I have one A in my classes and I'm waiting the results of the other 3. Last night was my first night using scivation- Xtend and I like it! I definitely could feel it moving through my body (I'm not sure if that's normal) but I think it definitely helped keep me going through my workout!

Hi there, looks like your off to a great start and making progress already.

On the diet I'd try to keep the fruit to two servings per day or less. Sometimes the sugar can keep you from losing fat.

Ok I kept my servings of fruit to only 2 servings today! One of those servings was after my workout b/c I know I need the sugar! I worked out my chest and shoulders today using the dumbbells....I still want to buy more dumbbells I think I will get up to 35's...right now the heaviest ones I have are 25's but I can lift heavier than that for some exercises....I am going to start a challenge for myself starting next month and it will include me not eating any processed food, I have a thing for veggie burgers and soy burgers and I buy the frozen kind but I need to make my own. I will still eat the frozen vegetables and canned beans though. Also I will keep my servings of fruit to no more than 3 servings a day and I will eat as many whole foods as possible and try to keep my foods as close to nature as I can. I am taking things slowly because I want to make sure that I get in the habit of giving up processed foods to make the proper lifestyle change. I eat healthy but I am improving in the areas that need it!

Here's my workout for the day sets/reps: 3x10

    incline db press- 25's
    decline db press-25's
    see-saw press- 25's
    standing palms-in db press-25's
    decline db flyes- 15's, 25's, 25's
    front two-db raise-15's

I lol'd hard with "I do not approve of all the nakedness". What would we do without moms?

Never heard of Jefferson squats before so I googled. Aren't you afraid you might bang up your cookie!?! Or are my arms just really short. http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/exerc...rsonsquats.htm

I'm impressed by the numbers on your deadlifts btw.

LOL! My mom cracks me up! Yeah the Jefferson squats feel awkward and I have short arms too...but if you keep your arms straight the barbell should not come near your cookie and when you squat the bar goes down so it's all good! But it looks like that from the pictures right?

Thanks ladies for the encouragement...I am working hard at burning the fat and it feels good to know that I have support!

Tonight was Back. My goal is to be able to do AT LEAST 5 pull-ups by the end of the year so I did some assisted pull ups and eccentric pull-ups, where I started at the top and as slowly as I could lowered myself back down. Here are the other exercises I did...3 sets of 10 each

    Barbell bent over rows- 115lbs
weighted hyperextension on body ball- 10lb plate on the back of my neck
    Bent over two-db row- 25lbs
    Incline bench pull w/dumbbells- 25lbs

I feel really, really tired right now....my daughter has been a brat all day!
    Push it to the limit!!!!

Favorite saying - GO GET IT!

    I am a "beastess" - thanks Brian!!!

    12-11-10 first powerlifting meet
    314.16/187/341 - 843 lbs total raw!

    3-26-11 USPA state championship
314.16/198.7/352 - 865lbs total raw - best female raw lifter (Open division)

Wow, that seems like it would be quite the balancing act?!?

You have a lot on your plate. Work, school, mom, and working out. You need an S on your chest and a cape!
