Is it safe or common to drink egg whites? I can't stand eating 6 egg whites every morning, I have the egg beater egg whites in the carton. Would it be ok to just chug 1 cup of that?

They are pasteurized at around 130 degrees F, but I don't off hand know how long though. Regardless, the temp really isn't high enough to really denature the protein and make it as digestible as well cooked - if it was it would start to curdle. While raw or undercooked may not be optimal, people agonize over it too much.
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

I agree man....I hate eating eggWhites....so I found drinking them works better ( for me @ least ) and it's alot faster to get down....I haven't had anyProblems drinking raw eggs and I've been doing for about 6months now....so I guess it's safe but everyOne's different tho.....
as a sideNote...( and this may gross some of youOut ) ...I usually drink 1/4Cup of eggWhites ( roughly 6g of protein ) mixed w/ a 1/4 - 1/2Cup of lowSugar orangeJuice + a packet of splender/equal.....I can barely taste the eggs when I do it that way....

^^ that...
If you have to go with the whites, try throwing them in a blender w some whey and milk/ice? Or mix it up - have egg sandwiches, make omelets (protein from chicken, turkey, cheese = less egg whites), have some additional food with it, or just hard boil regular eggs til the center gets hard and eat the whites and toss the yellow ball in the basket?? Milk, oatmeal, cereal, lots of subs so you don't have to eat sooo many whites...Live. Don't just exist.

Hey guys,
This was an old thread from last year I have a question about.
Couple of guys on here said that the egg white liquid wasn't as absorb-able as them being cooked? Is that true?
I just mixed up 20 grams with some whey protein to chug down. I'm having trouble getting all my macros from solid food so I wanted to do this to give my body a different slower digesting protein.
thx

Do you believe the information I got from this website or are they just pimping their own brand?

Are Egg Whites Safe To Drink Raw ?
This is a great question and we get emails about this all the time. The truth is, that only Eggology brand egg whites are safe to drink raw because they are continuously tested for salmonella and listeria. The USDA requires that all eggs (out of the shell) be tested, but only one in eight production days. That means, that a company may test their eggs today, and then not again until over a week from today. Eggology tests all day/every day.
Most people think that pasteurization makes egg whites safe, but nothing could be further from the truth. The USDA does require all egg (out of the shell) to be pasteurized, but this process only heats the eggs to approximately 134°F. This temperature only kills everyday bacteria, but you would have to heat the egg whites to above 174°F in order to kill harmful bacteria such as salmonella and listeria. Unfortunately, this high temperature would fully cook the egg whites, thereby eliminating raw usage. The intense testing makes Eggology the only egg whites completely safe to drink raw.

Fuk, just read this study and only 51% of the raw eggs was digested vs. 91% for a cooked one.

There goes my plan.

half-cooked
i some times boil a glass of milk and crack a raw egg or two in there, probably sounds pretty disgusting to most people but I believe this way cooks the eggs or egg whites just enough to make them more digestible and not enough to denature any protein...it basically just forms slimy curdles in the milk...taste or texture doesn't bother me at all but as we all know its different for everyone!
