What do you think of the salary cap ending in the NFL in 2010?
Does the end of the salary cap era mean that the profit sharing between franchises will be removed too? If not why would large market teams (cowboys, patriots, ect.) agree to profit sharing? If the removal of the salary cap means that owners can use their own funds in conjunction with the profit sharing from the NFL do you think that the NFL will turn in the MLB?

Yes, it will likely create a larger disparity in success on the field between the richer teams and the poorer/average ones. Same thing in MLB, same in pro soccer (Europe).

IMO they need to work something out to keep the cap.

except for teams that have plenty of money but refuse to spend it. The Bears were under the cap last year, they are something like 33 million under the cap right now...and yet as usual they aren't doing **** in free agency.

Players don't want it to happen as much as the owners, no salary cap means that players have to be with a team for like 6+ years to become a free agent. I doubt the uncapped year will happen and the players and owners will settle on a new agreement.

It would ruin the sport. Plus, once you have a non-capped year, the players will never agree to go back to a salary cap.

And the way unions ruined the auto industry the player's union will ruin the NFL.
It's really a sad time upon us because it really could be the death of the NFL as we know it.

You might as well just give the Pats the title every year. Belichick + More Money = Better Camera Equipment = Superbowls

They will eventually set a rookie salary cap just like the NBA. This will prevent teams from getting fukced over for years when a top 10 draft pick doesn't work out.

Its not going to happen. Every few years this thread pops up on sports/football forums all across america. And then in the final hour after several extensions a new deal is reached.

I think it means teams like Buffalo and Green Bay will be moved to larger markets.

I hope the Salary cap never ends. Would make the NFL a joke like MLB. Washington and Dallas would always be on top, and teams like Minnesota would always be bottem of the heap.

If LA wants a team, it's gonna look to the Packers. It will be pretty easy to pluck a franchise from a city with a population of 11,000.
Los Angeles has much, much, much, much more money than Green Bay. Not to mention, when an athlete has the choice of playing in Los Angeles or Green Bay, Wisconsin... well, yeah.

owners will opt against it..
it wont happen
the only owners who will like a no cap franchise is Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder
no other owner what to have to continuously pay SOO much money for players
Dan Snyder and Al Davis keep fking up the NFL by giving these Huge contracts to average players

Teams with the richest owners/owners willing to pay the most money will be the best. Of course Jerry Jones and Dan Snyder will be in that group. I'm not sure how into the Seahawks Paul Allen is, but he has plenty of money to throw at players

football would become a lot like the MLB, the lions would have a bunch more 0-16 seasons if this were the case becuase its quite evident no one wants to play for them and i can see the NYG's becoming a lot like the yankees of MLB

He didn't get to be worth that much by funding bad investments. While he has the means, he wouldn't be outbidding the Cowboys, Patriots, and Giants for players because his team wouldn't be bringing in the revenue to justify doing so.

He's the best businessman in the NFL and since Gibbs came back, he's become a good football owner too after being a disaster early on (Spurrier years). Even with a cap, he's a master at maneuvering it by getting players to restructure contracts to free up cap space. Every year the media and "experts" say the Redskins have no cap space...then Danny works his magoc and they sign some big name free agents. He did it again this year.
I'd support losing the cap, obviously.
Redskins vs. Texans in the SB.
