That is definetly my favorite rap album.

Litterally every song is a classic.

The chronic was dope as well.
As was 2001.

Nas' first album was pretty damn good though.

Nas is sick, but AZ was better IMO, if AZ would have put out more album he would have surpassed Nas in the public eye.

AZ's flow is ridiculously sick.

Nas as a whole is much more complete though. Lyrics have subsistence. I just cant see pac being better in any aspect other than he goes hard, but so does nas.

I see what your saying, but I would still take Pac over him.

For instance, if I had to delete one or the other off my Itunes, it would be Nas.

There is alot of other artists out there who have a similer style to the classic Nas.
Stuff with great, sampled beats, good lyrics, and pretty good rappers over it (although they dont really compare w/ Nas).

However, there is noone w/ a style similar to 2Pac.
And if they do, they don't compare what so ever to him.

I will have to sit down and listen to the whole album through one day I just dont see why people think pac was the best ever.

IMO--
Theres Dope artists- I can name about 100+ in this catagory
Theres Hella Dope Artists- I would put like 25-35 in this catagory
There's second Top 10 artists I would put like 10-15 in this one
Then, theres The top 10 which I would put about 10-12 rappers in.

Right now, My top 10 is this-

Murs
Atmosphere
Anything produced by 9th wonder
2pac
Nas
Andre Nickatina
Mac Dre
Wu-tang
AOTP
Guru's Jazzmatazz and Gangstarr
Mos Def/Talib
Notorious
Big L

(no order)

This list could change a few people in the next few months though

what makes nas so sick is his ability to tell a story. I had to go for a 6 hour drive for work one monday, so iput the nas discography on a cd.

When you listen to the lyrics its like your watching a movie.

That being said Pun is better :P

Is it like his lyrics are the greatest but its comparable who has the smoother/better voice?

On paper, Eminem's stuff is pretty fukcing good.
Some of Guru's stuff is insane, I think he is severely underrated on this board.

Nas is a great rapper though, and if every real hip-hop fan were to rank rappers, he probably would fall anywhere between 1-25 on their list.

Nas is in my top 12, like i listed, and would probably fall somewhere in the top 5-6 if i narrowed it down that far.

But there is plenty of rappers comparable to him.
I could personally compare over 25 rappers to Nas, where the falloff between Nas and the 25 guy isnt a whole lot.

But ya Nas is a great rapper and should deserve a mention for that #1 spot.
To bad Raps not a sport and this will never be determined.

When everything is said and done yeah he probably is the best (arguably) but it's almost undeniable that he has fallen off lately, but when you start with Illmatic you pretty much have sealed it for top 10.
