Liquid cooling system is overheating
I'm trying to figure out why my liquid cooling system is overheating. When I first built the computer it was doing fine, but now it seems easy to overheat.
Idle CPU temp - 40 C
After a while of moderate work it can idle around 50 C.
When playing COD it can reach 80 C or so before it locks up.
The heatsink is securely attached to the CPU and the liquid is flowing fine (did the dye test), so I'm not sure what else can be the problem. Any ideas?

Check the radiator, they accumulate dust pretty fast.

The outside is fine, I'm going to try and open it up and look there.

I never took the heatsink off but I may try that too. I can't remember which type of paste I used.

It's just a stock Thermaltake waterblock fit in with an I connector plate.

I used the canned air on the radidator but with no luck... however I downloaded a program to check GPU temperature and found it almost matches the temperature Speedfan gives me for "Core", so maybe it's the video card that's overheating.
I'm checking on this problem at the moment. Using a GTX 280 card.

Yeah the liquid cooling circulation is fine, did the dye test.
I found out the problem is the GPU that's overheating. So now I'm trying to search for a solution to that. It seems like the GPU should be designed to keep itself cool.

Well if it's getting so hot its overwhelming the cooling system something is wrong with the chip, probably went fubar.

It's my video card that's overheating, it's not connected to the cooling system though. It has it's own fan system.

1. buy some 'paste removal kits" or alcohol (the remains can be consumed)
2. thermal grease is old
3. put on some arctic silver 5 (the best one out there)
4. put the heatsink back on
profit
dude that is a high temp , how much did you overclock
mine athlon ildes at 27-30 (lowest i went was 14 on AIR COOLING) was cold as fuk in the room

An update, I found out how to manually change my video card fan and now I'm watching the temperature drop 8 C so far.
Going to try COD in a bit and see if I still have the same problem.
The liquid cooling system is inside my computer btw.

Thats your problem right there. I had an internal cooling system on my 500 dollar video card and one day it fried it. Water cooling systems need to be outside the computer otherwise it's just not worth having one because the heat will not dissapate as fast as the new heat being generated by the cpu so the water gets hotter and hotter the longer you play.

Ok, I see. At least I have COD running for about an hour before it gets hot now... before it would last maybe 20 min. Maybe next time I'll invest in an external one.
