So yesterday I finally got the cast off my arm. While punching a tendon in my wrist ripped off a piece of bone in my hand. After surgery and more then 12 weeks in a cast, I am finally ready to restart my road to the cage.
My right hand is very weak. I have almost no grip strength, very little mobility, and there is now a noticeable difference in the size of my arms, the right one obviously being smaller from lack of use.
While I was in my cast, I lost almost 20lbs. I was at 188, I have been fluctuating between 169-171 for the last few days. This was heart breaking. While my bodyfat percentage has dropped, I also lost a lot of muscle mass, and I'm sure strength.
My goals over the coming months is to get up to 180-185 gaining lean mass and keeping my body fat level where it is, or lower. I want to fight at 170, but I plan to walk around closer to 180.
In this log i will update my strength training routine weekly with a chart including reps, sets, and weight. I will update my MMA class schedule after every class, including what we worked on, and how I felt about it. I will also include some information about my diet weekly because it will be a pretty simple calorie surplus (this is a bodybuilding website, so I'm pretty sure most of you know the proper way to eat for the goals I described). The focus of this log will be the recovery from my injury and how I am building size and strength, I feel that will be the most useful to the readers.
Thanks for stopping by.
Oh yeah... Im also training to run a half-marathon this spring... cross training ftw.

Yes SIR... the lethal weapon has been released from it's shackles and is again free to roam the streets fighting crime and injustice in bar rooms, pubs, and MMA gyms across detroit.
A full marathon does NOT sound like any fun whatsoever. A half marathon is just enough to push myself.Disregard everything, acquire profitz!

Im not being overly strict this week, as its the first week back on a large calorie surplus, and I know it will take a little getting used to. So far, I have been pretty close to meeting those numbers though.

St. Johns wort
Various vitamins, fish oil, flax oil

Good morning x8
Split Squat x8 (each leg)

evening-- laid down for 20 minutes before Kickboxing, and had phone on vibrate.... slept through kickboxing
My whole body is pretty much sore from the previous 2 workouts anyway... Rest is a good thing.
More flexibility dvd tomorrow (i recommend downloading the p90x series, the workouts really are no joke, something productive to do when you can't get to the gym)Last edited by bcooter151; 03-25-2009 at 05:32 PM.
