How should I feel after a workout

So on a bb article, it said that you should only workout for about 45 minutes per workout to prevent overtraining and to push your body to the max within this 45 minutes. So I tried this today but after working out it didn't feel like my muscles were tired (targeted biceps and triceps) and seemed like I could do more. Before, I would do a workout for nearly 2 hrs and then finish and be super tired.

So I guess my main question is do you have to feel tired after a workout for it to be effective?

You're 19 and say the 2 hour workouts have left you with a better feeling, yet you weigh 153 pounds. Logic.

45 minutes is optimum. Sore/Tired muscles don't represent worked muscles. Get in there, shift the weights and get out.

overtraining is overly exaggerated on this forum.

it really depends on what you are doing, what is your routine?

i feel worse after leg day because it takes a lot of energy out of me, but i like to workout until i can FEEL it

When you're talking to a 5'9 153 pound dude who reckons 2 hour workouts > 1 hour workouts then no, it's not exagurated.

I work out with more volume then most people and I'm not normally to fussed about overtraining as an issue on here, but there are exceptions.

Such as the skinnyfat kid who somehow did 43 sets of biceps (yes, I counted) at my Gym in the duration of my back workout.

Did you read what I said...?

I said I'm not normally fussed about overtraining.

OP has been doing 2 hour workouts and his stats are low, therefore I'm thinking he'd do well to try a shorter, more intense workout...?

As already said, I'm not that fussed about overtraining...I spend about 1 hour 20 minutes on my back alone =|

depends on the volume of his workouts, and his genetics as well.

i do a lot more volume too, and i believe i'm going to start doing layne nortons old routine, well not his exact routine but this is what a fellow bb.com member made up from it:

    My goodness...

And I would NOT say it's overtraining.

    That's my entire point.

Look, I know he has no avi, but if he's 153 pounds at his height, some/many things need to be improved.

    Anyway, I'm out. Workout time.

    Ciao.
