Depends on how overweight you are and how much you cut.

If you just have a bit of fat to loose, and want to keep LBM Id say no more than 1-1.5 lbs a week

If you are severely overweight you could likely loose 2lbs a week

If you are severely obese you could loose 2-3lbs a week. (maybe more but too fast will cause lots of extra skin)

yea, like you can workout hardcore and lose perhaps 5-10 lbs but at the expense of losing muscle along w/ fat which no man wants

so typical, of losing maximum fat while limting muscle lost, about 1-2 lbs (2 is a little border line) a week

I've always heard no more than 2lbs a week....unless you're on The Biggest Loser...then you get voted off.

    One million pounds bwahahaha!!!

but seriously you can look at pro fighters etc, they can drop like 15 pounds in a day, but if you just mean fat, you could drop several pounds depending on your starting point, but I have always heard that if keeping muscle while cutting is important then do not drop more that 2 pounds per week

haha i admitt to watching that, for some reason i dont feel like 2 lbs would be that hard, but than again, my metabolism is still young, could be harder once i get older, plus i haven't spent the last 8-9 weeks, focusing purely on working out so who knows? that sucks that they had a "to be continue" wtf? ha

o and for those who feel, watching the biggest loser, to be gay, well i officially declare no homo on this post hah

I'm guilty of watching it too. If you look through their books, they recommend 1200-1500 calories a day. That, in my opinion, is way too few for how much they workout. But then again, 2lbs a week isn't as exciting as 15lbs a week.

For you or me it could be unhealthy because you would starving the body. For someone with over a hundred pounds of fat storage 1200 calories is simply to maintain there metabolism and there body feeds off the fat storage. Considering how unhealthy being over 100 lbs overweight is I think the least of their worries is losing to quickly.
