    help with my HIIT

i just started doing HIIT running....im overweight and dont have much endurance yet so this is where i have started, please tell me what you think and if you think i should modify it at all

i start out by stretching obviously, then i do this:

    jog for about 5 minutes
    walk for 1.5-2 minutes
    full speed sprint 25
    walk for 1.5-2 minutes
    full speed sprint 25 seconds
    walk for 1.5-2 minutes
    full speed sprint 25 seconds
    walk for 1.5-2 minutes
    full speed sprint 25 seconds
    walk for 1.5-2 minutes
    full speed sprint 25 seconds
    walk for 1.5-2 minutes
    full speed sprint 25 seconds

i think your technically supposed to jog instead of walk, im not sure honestly....but its too much for me, this is where i have to start

critique me please im pretty new at this

by the way the stats in my info are right im about 5'9 196 still got a pretty good gut and love handles

    thanks

    Hey there,

It sounds like you're doing fine to me.

The five minute jog is like your warm-up.

Then you jog at a moderate level, or fast walk for 1-2 minutes, then sprint all out as fast as you can with the maximum amount of effort for 10-30 seconds.

If you're doing it correctly you should physically not be able to go on for longer than 20 minutes in total.

If you do this several times a week it will elevate your metabolism so you burn more calories throughout the day.

    I hope that helps you.

When I got into jogging my shins were hurting as well. What I was doing was running on my toes. I changed my running style to heel to toe and I haven't had a problem since.

Good luck and don't give up!
