    an unarmed mentally ill man.

the cop said the man attacked him and he was acting in self defense (who knows whether the officer was lying) so he was cleared of wrong doing.

then more recently he was caught driving under the influence of alcohol mixed with painkillers, and yet he was not removed from the police force.

I wonder if he will be let go now.

One would think that he obviously logically should be, but police worship in this country is so strong that I can't say one way or the other if I think he will remain on the police force.

That is fairly ****ed up. No one can say it was justified and it doesn't matter whether she was lipping the cop off. She is a 15 year old girl.

The latest cop mishandling here happened around three weeks ago. Three off duty police officers assaulted and robbed a delivery man. Penalties so far...suspension with pay.

I'm not sure about "police worship." I was under the impression that most people hated the police.

F**kin Christ this makes me sick and is an absolute disgrace to anyone that works in security (myself included, I'm a Correctional Officer at a prison). If I get the names of these officers I'm gonna track these f**ks down and beat the **** out of them. They are an embarassment to society and should be put in prison, if they were at my unit I would let the entire cell block gangrape and beat these guys.

The high refusal rates, say Burnham and law enforcement analysts, result in part from the extraordinary difficulty in prosecuting abuse cases. Juries are conditioned to believe cops, and victims' credibility is often challenged.

So what you're saying is that if someone commits a crime, and in the same day someone else commits a crime against the initial offender, they should be let off?

Beatings and lashings are not considered punishment in the U.S.

When the perpetrator is in law enforcement, the crime is minor, and the second offense is greater than the first, then yea, I'd say an exception could be made.

pay them more then. more people will want to become cops, and you have a better pool of applicants to choose from. same thing with teachers. that's the problem with the public sector, the private is always more lucrative, so you don't have as much to choose from.

Yeah they did, seems some people think if a kid manages to provoke a cop into hitting them they are immune from the law, awesome strategy, kids will be respecting cops in droves if you people ran the justice system.

Still waiting on some actual arguments (no a neg is not an argument) as to why she should be immune from the law.

Looks like they putting her in solitary, she must have done something REALLY bad...but still that action by the cop was so wrong. What if that girl was some dude twice the size of that cop, you think he would show some restraint?

In additions, these are two grown men that are suppose to be trained and skilled police officer? Instead, his reaction was identical to a thug off the street. Although in this case, this one wears a badge!

I really don't think anyone likes dealing with cops and they're really easy targets, but the girl assaulted the cop on the camera, and she was already being put into solitary.

I know you have to hold cops to a high standard, but you don't know what kind of nonsense happened right before that.

I'm not justifying it, punching her in the face is WAY outta line, but people can only be pushed so far before they lose it.

Irrelevant! That shoe toss didn't constitute that level of response. He slammed the girl to the ground, jumped on her, and started punching her in the head. What do you would have happened if you, or any citizen, would have reacted like that in front of a police officer?

I'm not insinuating the all police are like that, but this one needs to go!

I don't care what came out of her mouth.
I don't care that she flicked her size 5 1/2 shoe at him and it tapped him on the shin.

That cop abused the **** out of his power. He kicks her in the midsection, jacks her in the face, and slams her on the ground by her hair.

The appropriate response was shut the ****ing door, and not let a 15yo taunt you into possibly ruining your professional reputation and getting yourself in a world of ****. His reaction was grossly inappropriate, and I find it hard to condone his action from any of the footage on that video.

I'm sure he won't get what he deserves...but he should be severely reprimanded, possibly fired, and if I was the girl, I'd seek legal action for him using what was obviously excessive force.

I could see him reacting that way if she had a gun, or a knife, or posed some similar dangerous threat. As it stands, she said a momma joke and flicked a shoe...didn't hurl it...flicked it.

Absolutely ridiculous that anyone would say his actions were justified there.

yah its as if the cop was looking for any reason to beat the living snot out of the girl. she shouldn't have thrown her shoe at the cop, but damn its just a 15 year old kid! she's already in a cage, just close the f'ing door and its over. he was just looking for a reason to beat her stupid, and she gave it to him.

She flicked her shoe and it tapped him on the shin...if he got that offended, and felt that threatened, then he needs to be recognized as a loose cannon and probably needs to be released. It was uncalled for...bottom line.

Shut the ****ing door. That was the correct response.

I know you have to hold cops to a high standard, but you don't know what kind of nonsense happened right before that.
Neither do you. You assume she did something that warranted his response because he's police, and it's assumed whatever he does is justified. The evidence at hand shows that he can't control himself, and let a 15yo girl get a rise out of him, when all he had to do was shut the door in her face and it's game over. Instead, he responded to pitiful "assault" attempt with excessive, brute force.

I'm not justifying it, punching her in the face is WAY outta line, but people can only be pushed so far before they lose it.
Then those kind of people probably shouldn't be trusted with our protection and upholding the law. If he has a short fuse, no telling what happens on the street when a 13yo talks about his momma.

I don't know what would happen to be honest, a lawyer making the argument that I was assaulted first would probably be able to lessen the sentance, especially since I don't have a record of assault.

I think we should leave it up to the department if he needs to be fired since we don't the whole story, but he should definitely be reprimanded in some way.
