I am on vacation for 2 weeks enjoying some down time! Still, I got up early to hit the gym this morning, ran home, picked up the dog and continued run. Always tough after a big leg workout but it does help losses up the muscles. Now I have my whole day ahead of me! I think we'll hop on our bikes and go to the Gallery (for a Van Gogh exhibit) then go for a nice lunch outdoors somewhere. Ya baby! This is what I live for!

Hey well I am still lurking around. I suppose I should update... I am still in vacation mode. Enjoying this very hot and dry summer. I am considering fall contests but not fully engaged just yet. I have been in the gym training about 3 times per week instead of the usual 6 or 7 ! I've increased my running (since I'm eating a lot more ) and very much enjoying that. I need to wrap my head around my fall season real soon. But considering the amount of BBQs and socializing I've done for the past 6 weeks, I'm holding out pretty well. I've gained 9 lbs. not too bad. I should be able to dial things in pretty quick. We shall see.
I read one of Derek's articles on FB about cutting. He just posted it. If you get a chance check it out. Derek has a very sensible and intelligent approach to training and prepping. A breath of fresh air amidst all the chaos around the fitness training world. There are NO shortcuts people. No need to harm your health to win a trophy. Keep it real and stick with healthy choices! Baaaa.

Sorry I'm never here anymore. So busy and kinda stuck on FB. Although I don't post too many details on FB I do post pics. I usually don't compete in the fall, so my season really has bee on and off. I spent July and August enjoying the summer, friends, family, BBQs and running. By late August it occurred to me that Nationals were just 25 days away. I tried to dial in for it but needed more time. So back to off season for about a week or so and then back on. I wanted to do regional show where Tosca Reno was competing. I thought it would be great to be on stage with her but she decided to do Bikini whereas I did Figure. I went to Whistler to party with some girlfriends. Lots hot tubbing and some wine. Hmmm so I was going to give up on that contest too. But my coach thought I could pull it off. I added a little extra cardio and drank plenty of water and BAM I hit the stage. I was very pleased with what I saw. My gluteus have improved with all the work I put in during BBQ season
My real goal is for Nov 3rd. Yesterday I volunteered at another show and of course it gave me the bug. I am now just maybe considering something for next Saturday. Going to dial in easy and just go. I think it may make Nov 3rd that much better. Not sure. I'll keep posted on that. After that it'll be grow time until the spring!...

Ya, I know... I've been awol for a while.
But I've been putting my time to good use. I had an awesome Fall contest season! Woot! I got 2 First places at IDFA show here in my hometown at end of October - Figure and Athletic model - both in masters. Then I got First place at the big show I was focusing on in early November. First place Grand Masters figure and 4th place in OPEN ! Woot Pretty pumped about that. So I am qualified for the Provincials in June 2013. Yikes! That should be fun. It's not exactly drug-free so I'll take what I can get. I'd rather place last than grow a beard and other non-feminine appendages! LOL !!!
That said, I am bulking at the moment. I notice Egg Nog is not listed in Derek's bulking diet. I'll have to ask about that! haha I just need to get through December and then I can eat a little bit cleaner. I am presently 8 lbs over contest weight. Most of it consists of cheese and wine!
I'm hardly doing any cardio at all these days. I really want to grow me some quads. However, today I did a metabolic workout (as I was feeling a little puffy). I know it's counter productive...
12 Deads ss/ 12 burpees; 11 deads ss/11 burpees; 10 deads/ 10 burpees and so on... That took about 18 minutes. BIG SWEAT!
4 sets x 10 Standing single leg Ham curls
4 sets x 10 Seated Ham curls
4 sets x 10 Seated leg extensions
25 mins post w-o cardio on Octane elliptical (watching MASH rerun on one of the TVs)

Yesterday's workout was BACK. It was a good one with a couple of PRs
Mostly all 3 sets x 10 reps with increasing weights. A classic.
Seated rows, clean and press, BO BB rows, cable pull downs (105 lbs PR), straight arm pull downs
Tricep rope pull downs, BB skullies and CGBP, DB kickbacks
Abs
Got a great pump out of that one! Focusing on growing lats/wings....

Saturday is my usual legs destruction day! I don't have to rush for work and I have plenty of time to eat before and after. But as I write this toe today on Sunday, I can tell you that I'm suffering! DOMS!!!
Glutes bridges: 135 lbs x 15 x 2 sets; 155 lbs x 9 x 2 sets
Front squats: 65 x 8, 85 x 5, 85 x 5, 85 x 5, 65 x 8
BB back squats: 95 x 8, 115 x 5, x5, x5, x5
Bulgarian split squats on Smith: 70 x 7 x 5 sets
Leg press: 3 pps x 8 wide + 8 narrow x 2 sets; 320 lbs x 8 wide + 8 narrow; x 2 more sets
Abs: 3 sets leg lifts x 12.5 lbs x 10
Hyper tensions x 25
