I can't seem to find a good whole food source of protein that can beat the g/$ that a good protein powder gives. The closest i have been able to find is costco chicken breast. Anyone out there have any ideas?

The tuna I get is like a dollar or so (but I get the name brand "speciality" tuna with low sodium). and a 4.5 oz can is 20 g protein which comes out to 71 grams of protein per pound which is 3 1/2 cans which is around 4 or so bucks...so *shrug* that is more expensive than most red meat and chicken, but an easier source since you open, drain and enjoy...
I've found though that red meat seems to be the best. Also pork loin/chops if you're looking at most grams of protein per serving at least...price wise nothing beats the whey protein/chicken
or actually beans are cheap and you can get serious protein there too. Just watch out for the sodium if it's cannedLast edited by Hishiad; 02-27-2009 at 06:22 AM.

Always check the managers specials and what not, I just grabbed two big ribeye steaks for 5 bucks a pop. Buy a bunch and freeze em up.
I'm thinking of adding sardines into my diet, I like them on pizza and when I have antipasto (which is every family gathering). I know they come packaged in a variety of stuff, is olive oil the best bet?
