2600 isn't even a bulk calorie level for your weight, its about 3100-3200..

Oatmeal is a pretty slow digesting carb, in my opinion just depends on how you react to carbs

Yea... 2600 might be your maintenance level for calories. You definitely could be eating more. I'd go for cottage cheese or casein.

Makes sense to me. Slow digesting carbs throughout the night.

    strong advice..
I'm sorry, but if you're not going to provide any information on the question.. why are you posting? I'd understand if you had reason to back up what you just said.. but you really gave him nothing to go on..

Now for the obvious 2600 IS only about maintenance if not lower than maintenance for a male your height/weight etc (assuming you're somewhat active). If you're just getting back into lifting weights, you definitely want to build yourself a nice base to work with.. and this is going to require you to eat.

Now, as for you question about the oatmeal, it all depends on how carb-sensitive your body is. Oatmeal IS a healthy option, and if you have it with cottage cheese, or a glass of milk you are still getting your casein (slow digesting protein). I think what you gotta do is use trial & error. Try it out! If you find you don't like the effects it's having on your body, try having the oatmeal a couple hours earlier!

    Good luck!
