I woudl try to jsut get stronger for about 4-6 weeks then the last two start working on endurance. I have heard suppersetting pushups to failure inbetween bench sets might help. Can't exactly remember where I got that from though.

I did that in high school; wouldn't recommend it.
Nothing to see here, move along please

I would stick with a plain jane 3x8 barbell bench routine once a week. Follow it with 3x8 tri pulldowns and 3x8 cable flys. Work your lats and delts in the same manner on a different day, as they will also aid you in this venture. Since you really don't have that much time to prepare, what's really going to help you is performance in the actual testing.
Combine bench pressing is the one thing I've actually had a lot of success at and know a thing or two about, so here it goes.
Give your chest and tris a good solid week and half or so of rest before your event. Try to finish your warm up 5-10 minutes before you do your lifts. Do three warm up sets... keep them all below seven reps, because you don't want to build up that lactic acid - six reps at 135, four reps at 195, and two reps at 225. Some people like to do their last two warm up reps at a higher weight than 225, because it makes the 225 seem lighter when you're trying to achieve maximum reps, but this has never worked out for me.
Now on to the actual event. When you've unracked the bar, take a deep breath. You will slowly let out this breath in a hissing manner while you perform 50% of your target reps. Once you've completed this, rest very briefly with your arms extended and take one or two breaths. Do the same hissing routine while you perform a second run of two less reps than you've just completed (if you did 8 reps on the first breath, do 6 on the second). After you've completed this second run, breathe as you normally would while lifting. Breathe in when you bring the weight down and explode and exhale as you bring the weight up. This will really be where you push yourself.
Hopefully this helps!

If you can bench more you will increase your reps on 225

Use Defranco's program...basically two bench workouts a week, one with heavy weights and one with lighter, focusing on endurance.

YOU ARE OLD AS YOU FEEL. I am an example of not to listen to anything negative others say. I am in good shape been training for years. I am playing semi pro ball again after a layoff of a couple years. My bench maxes out around 350lbs. I just want more reps out of 225. If you don't have any positive answers please keep them to yourself.

are you just focussing on this area or what???
what other tests you going to be getting...
how much can you rep right now compared to your 350lbs max....

This is what I did, and I went from 18 to about 25 in a matter of weeks.
I was doing a 4 day split.
Monday: 5x5 chest/back, last set I'd go until failure, 3-5 sets of 25 pushups
Tuesday: Squat, other leg lifts
Thursday: 4x12 chest/back, last set until failure, 3-5 sets of 25pushups
Friday: Deadlift, other pchain lifts
Most I had ever done for scouts was 21. After doing this for 5 weeks, I went from doing 225 ~18 times to 25 times. I was also able to do 285 14 times.

One thing i would really focus on is doing the bench test itself...
11 reps and a max of 350lbs is below par but again you may not have focussed on strength enduranc so much in the past...
what i would recomend is doing this
rep 100kg as many times
1 min rest
rep 100kg as many times
1 min rest
rep 100kg as many times...
how many times would i do this... dunno... never prepared for the test but i would say every other day... maybe play with the load a bit... say try 80kg etc...
benching is also a lot on the triceps... i would work on strength endurance with them... close grip benching with 15 reps... skulls with 12 reps short rest periods...
without knowing what you currently do for a routine and our diet etc... this is only pointers rather than do this....
personally... i think my max is about 410lbs ish... and i can rep 33 times... admittedly right now i couldn't get more than 22 or so.... but again i focus a lot on strength endurance...

if you're throwing up 350, you should be able to get more reps. my bench max is also 350, and the last time I tested, I put up 15 reps.

strength endurance and absolute strength do not necessarily go hand in hand

The Mighty Devourer
Highly recommend listening to what Scott Donald said. About the minute rest. My bench has changed a huge amount, I used to do a 345 max and 225 for 24 reps, now I bench 400 flat and gaurantee that I can probably not get 20 reps out of it. Maxing and repping has very very little to do with each other. The reason I say Scott is dead on about what he said, if you want a better barbell curl what do you do......barbell curls.......if you want to be better at pullups what do you do........pullups........if you want to be better at benching 225 what do you do.........bench 225. Supplementing that with maximal training, dynamic training etc can all add support that, but your main mission should be work on that 225 for reps.
