Butt fat....

Ok....so here is the thing, no matter what I do....running, elliptical, etc...my butt just seems to get bigger and bigger (I take my measurements and then are going up as well). I don't know what to do to lose the fat on my butt. Do I do the stairmill or will that make my butt even bigger? Squats? Etc. I do a ton of cardio, have rest days so I know I am not over training...but my butt just keeps getting bigger now that my estrogen levels are back up. My tummy is flat and I have the top row of abs showing...but I'd gained 3 dress sizes because my butt is out of control.

What should I do? My diet is clean as usual...?

Will the stairmill help? I did it for a few days but stopped because someone told me it would make my butt bigger. I just want to lose the fat...and there is a TON back there. Butt and lower back fat!

I don't know if this is relevant in your case, because you mentioned cardio, but when I started doing weights for the first time my butt got bigger. I think because I was building muscle underneath the fat so the overall size went up. It started to get smaller when I paid more attention to my diet and when I did consistent cardio. Just my opinion, I am sure you will get more definite answers soon!

start lifting and dropping body fat,it might get bigger quite a bit,but if you are patient enough with weights,it will go down eventually.see i have the opposite,my butt is flat,working on it tough make sure your diet is extra clean.

I think pinkcashmere has it right...If your butt isn't solid muscle, I wouldn't be so concerned about it getting bigger before it leans up. You're gonna wish there was something back there giving it shape when all the fat is gone if you don't.

The same thing happened to me! I have been doing squats, lunges, deadlifts and my legs got smaller, well I mean they lost fat because they look more shapely...but anywho my hips went up an inch and I know it's because of this butt! I looked at myself in the mirror and said "Wow!" so I guess there is some muscle building up there and when I lose more fat it should go back down....not that I mind having a butt but I just want to look proportioned, ya know!

But seriously, it is probably just where you store fat on your body...is your diet clean? Are you actually eating enough? Women especially have bodies programmed to retain fat so we can make babies lol.

Good luck tho....I'm sure it is muscle you are building under the fat and will eventually lean out....especially if you are lean enough to have your upper abs showing! Great job!

Wink I use to suffer from no-ass-at-all syndrome..

Same here with the growing butt. My butt has gone up over a inch since I started, but I can see my abs now - usually a 4 pack (2-pack on bloat days. lol). The Husband is definitely NOT complaining.

I had very scrawny legs and no ass at all, so I am not really surprised that I am gaining inches in my butt and thighs. I am getting better definition everywhere so I know I am not gaining tons of fat. My upper body definition is the most noticeable since I don't carry much fat there, but my legs are just now getting to the point where I can see some quad pop. I have been working out for a solid 5 months with about 2 months of that at a gym instead of home.

I am having to learn patience. I am learning to focus on my end goal and not my little ups and down with this recomposition process. I have learned to be much more forgiving with myself too. I am glad I am taking progress pics because what may seem like tiny changes add up over a couple of months and it is nice to compare. If I didn't have those pics I wouldn't realize how much progress I have actually made because I still feel scrawny.

I am glad you posted because I like to hear people with similar stories. It helps me know I am on the right track. Rock on!

look at oxygen this month

there is a great article in there about this same thing... it agrees that you have to build the muscle otherwise you will be flat back there... so keep pumping up and it will make it look happy when you finish slimming out...

So ladies...you are telling me that if I do things like lunges, stair mill, squats...I shouldn't be concerned about my butt getting bigger? Do I lift (when I am doing legs, seated press, squats, machines that involve butt..)heavy still? or light weights, high reps? I have very little muscle back there...it is all jiggly and dimply and FAT. I'm a realist. I need a butt bra.

(FYI...my butt no longer looks like the progress pics..I think I was like 35 there...now I am 40 inches around the hips from the increase in estrogen.)

Most definitely lift heavy! Very little muscle, jiggly all indicate you need muscle! The rest, dimply and fat means lowering body fat. But you won't like the lower body fat look until you have the muscle.

Dumbmick I am having the same issue. My upper half is leaning out nicely, abs are starting to show, arms are more defined, boobs smaller ;( etc...but then I look at the butt...uggg, it still looks big and it seems there is MORE cellulite...!!! It has only been 4.5 weeks for me so I am being patient! I feel like I want a butt bra too! I think for vaca in April I will need to buy one of those bikini skirts or shorts for the beach to cover up the cellulite.
