Misc help me choose my next car
I'm gonna be needing a new car in September to use as a DAILY DRIVER and MONTHLY TRACK CAR.
Keep in mind i'm in Europe so the prices wont be the same as in the states. My Price range is ? 10,000-18,000
So far I've come up with this list, which would you choose misc, and why?
I would be using the car to drive to uni everyday, grocery shopping, going clubbing, going to the track every 2 weeks, I like to drive my cars hard and IT MUST BE MANUAL.
1) BMW Z4 3.0si Sport 2dr Coupe (2006) (Favourite)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/852238.htm
2)BMW M3 6 SPEED MANUAL (2004)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/855567.htm
3) Nissan 350Z GT (2008)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/873978.htm
4) Audi S3 2.0 T FSI Quattro (2007)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/879516.htm
5) Lotus Elise 111R Touring Pack (2005)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/804395.htm
6)Caterham Super Seven R300 Superlight (2003)
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/851923.htm
7) VW Golf R32 2007
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/855217.htm
So which one should i take ?

LOL @ putting the caterham in there...do you want to be seen going to uni in that??
I'd go with either the bmw m3 or the audi...the most functional ones from the bunch.

I love caterhams, if it didn't rain so much in the UK I would get it in a flash.
but I am quite the petrol head, I would love to get a full caged and harnessed track car but its very expensive and hard to insure.

you're 20. Insurance will be like 5,000GBP per year.
I have a 1.6 Golf and I'm 22 years old. I'm paying 2100GBP per year

Good paying UK insurance rates on those cars.

anyways..350z is ****, Caterham isn't functional, GTi is alright..
so that leaves you with s3, z4 and m3..i'd say M3>S3>Z4 in that order. M3 is the best all-around car with a lot of punch..it does have its problems though.

The best track car is the Caterham with the Lotus not far behind. All around, you'd be better off with the VW, although it is a bit of a porker. The BMW would be fun but they're stupid expensive when you break stuff.
Have you ever considered a Miata? (no homo) I bought one to turn into a Spec Miata race car. I've been driving it everyday it's so much fun. It's like a Porsche with no power. You can easily buy a Miata for $3k US. (you do the conversion) For $3k more you've got a hell of a track car. You can always turbo/super charge it for more power. Part's are incredibly cheap and easy to find, they're "old" tech so they're easy to work on, and so many people race them there's support and tech articles everywhere. They're very forgiving to drive so you lower your risk for a wreck. For less than half of what you're planning on spending, you're got a car that will hang with or beat all those listed. Remember when you race, you will break/wear out stuff fast.
Most cars at track days driven by people who actually know how to drive are driving Datsuns/Mazda's/80's Euro cars. Guys with the expensive cars usually get laughed at behind their back. Money can't buy yourself around a race track.

sorry no american cars, I will be driving on the track and in the wet remember?
So far I've got quite varied answers.
I will agree that the caterham is a little bit silly, and the lotus perhaps, but this will all become clear when I test drive them.
Alot of love for the M3, great car.
And who says you cant pick up chicks in the Z4? Probably the car you are most likely to pick up chicks with...
Also why is everyone saying the 350z is ****?
EDIT: Bababooey: Yeah I have considered it although I'm not sure if ill fit being 6'3. I realize that I am trying to find a compromise between having a nice car and a fast track car. If I had more money I would just get a caterham to satisfy my driving needs and then a nice DD.
Also modifying is out of the question in England(insurance, even swaybars etc) so the miata would not be so much fun compared to the other cars.
