Forskolin -- Scientific studies relating to bodybuilder supplements have found that along with enhancing thyroid output and thermogenesis, forskolin is also a powerful anabolic agent. Those effects occur through elevation of 3,5 cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP); a second messenger important in hormone signaling. cAMP elevation is fundamental in generating an anabolic and thermogenic condition, and forskolin is the best legal and safe compound available for triggering very significant increases in cAMP levels. One study (Litosch, 1982) demonstrated that forskolin raises cAMP levels in fat cells. This is crucial because it demonstrates the ability of the substance to boost lipolysis; forskolin exerts powerful lypolitic effects as well as being a potent anabolic agent. One more added benefit of forskolin; it increases cAMP independently of adrenaline providing so increased energy without the need to use any type of traditional stimulant like caffeine pre-workout and without the undesirable effects of stimulants.

Forskolin and Testosterone -- So how can cAMP increase anabolism? cAMP is a crucial signal for steroidogenesis (testosterone production) in the Leydig cells of the testes, by increasing levels of steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR). Enhanced StAR production is essential to achieve higher androgen levels, because it's a Leydig cells cholesterol transfer protein and provides the building blocks for testosterone synthesis.

StAR activation is necessary for the stimulation of steroidogenic enzymes responsable for transfer of cholesterol to testosterone. Therefore, high cAMP levels also translates into higher levels of luteinizing hormone (the hormone responsible for mediating endogenous testosterone production), and when cAMP levels are enhanced, it acts as an intermediate in the signaling cascade that ranges from luteinizing hormone (LH) binding to testosterone production. By quickening the process, a resulting increase in anabolism and protein synthesis occurs. A ground-breaking 2005 study in The Journal of Obesity Research found that men taking 250 mg of 10% forskolin twice a day for 12 weeks (2/3 of the amount included in the daily dosage of BIO FORGE) experienced up to 33% increase in testosterone levels, averaged a 10 lbs. fat loss per person and increased lean mass an average of 8 lbs! A 2001 study by Badmaev also yielded similar results. A 1997 study in the The Journal of Urology found that forskolin can also aid in erectile dysfunction.

ICARIIN -- Icariin(epimedium's active) also enhances muscle contraction by attenuating the effect of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Acetylcholine (Ach) is a neurotransmitter essential for muscle contraction, and AChE is responsible for disabling ACh at the neuromuscular junction. Icariin hampers this disabling action, allowing for ACh to stay at the synapse and better exert its effects for a longer period of time allowing for much stronger muscle contractions.

Icariin is also a vey effective selective inhibitor of phosphodiasterase type 5 (PDE5). This is the same way some popular pharmaceutical products such as Viagra and Cialis work. This model of action allows for an enhanced eNOS activity and vasodilatation leading to the "pump muscle feeling" that every bodybuilder loves to get.

Icariin has been found to have roughly 1/10 the PDE5 inhibitory activity and nitric oxide productivity of sildenafil(Viagra), and the amount provided in BIO FORGE is dosed opportunely to provide similar effects. Recent clinical findings show Icariin could also enhance testosterone production in vivo by increasing cGMP generation in the Leydig cells.



INDOLE-3-CARBINOL -- This extraordinary compound, found in tiny amount in cabbage, can produce wonders for your body composition and hormonal system.

The most important mechanism of action of I3C is modulating estrogen metabolism. The human body metabolizes estrogens through two patways,wich lead to different compounds with diametrically opposite biological activities.

Estrogen metabolism is very effectively channeled by I3C,leading to the formation of 2-hydroxyestrone(weak and very poorly active) instead of 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone (a powerful and very active estrogen).

As most men are aware nowadays, estrogens(female hormones) are produced by males as well. Too much estrogen and/or an unbalanced estrogens ratio leads to low testosterone production, poor libido, fat deposition and other feminizing effects. The Indole-3-carbinol in BioForge blocks the release of undesired harmful estrogens and is a potent antioxidant.

OptiZinc -- OptiZinc is a patented 1:1 complex of zinc and methionine, the amino acid that is best absorbed by the body. Studies show that OptiZinc is absorbed better and retained longer than ordinary zinc supplements tested, and resists binding with dietary fiber and phytate, organic compounds that inhibit zinc absorption.

Optizinc is the name for a patented form of zinc which is bound to the amino acid l-methionine. Recently zinc has been studied to help with eye, prostate, skin, and hair health as well as boost both total and free testosterone . The bioavailability of zinc to the body has always been in question. Just how much does get into the body after digestion? Due to many factors like poor digestion due to age or intestinal disease, finding zinc that can be absorbed easier is very important. Optizinc has been studied and observed to be more absorbably than regular zinc and recommended for those who have a zinc deficiency.

Zinc is also a mild aromatase inhibitor(allowing for a better testosterone/estrogen ratio)and its action is crucial for androgen receptor binding in muscle tissue and sexual function.

Final review (40 day cycle)

First off I would like to thank THEHUGE and Biotivia for the chance to try out and log their new natural supplement Bioforge.

I started this log on 12/04/2008 and end it on 01/13/09
BEFORE
Weight: 224lbs

AFTER
Weight: 229 (+5lbs increase), I also look like I have leaned out a bit.

For the most part (aside from a few days around the holidays and a few days I was sick) I maintained a fairly clean diet as well as a 4 day a week work schedule. Because of the holidays, I am regretting not putting this cycle off until the begening of the year. However, with that being said I am very impressed with how well my body responded to BioForge.

ON a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best
Strength -8- Strength was very good considering Bioforge is a non-hormonal product. I was able to break personal lift records on front lat pull downs, dumbbell side laterals, dumbbell rear laterals, weighted dips, machine low rows, barbell curls, preacher curls, and low cable rows.

Libido -8- Libido was definitely raised throughout the cycle.

Mood -8- I felt more aggressive in the gym but not in a way that was out of control or anything like that. It was more of a drive to tear it up on the weights when I was in there. I felt motivated.

Energy -8- I found my self consuming half the caffeine I normally would over the course of a normal day, and had more gas at the gym.

Recovery -10- This was the best part of this supplement and the main reason it stands out from other similar products I have used. I found my self needing less rest between sets and found my self anxious for my lifting partner to finish his set so I could get my next one in. I workout in the evenings after work. There were many times I would fully work two body parts and still feel like I could do more.

Over all I give this product an 8.4 out of 10! I will diffidently be using this product again in the near future as I am already missing the extra drive and recovery at the gym. Once again thank you to THEHUGE and Biotivia.

So this log has come to an end. I guess this will be my final review. The bottom line is that this stuff was GREAT. The most noticeable of all benefits was definitely the quicker recovery. I had a few setbacks during this log such as being sick and being home at my parents for the holidays but none of these things seemed to slow my overall progress like they normally would. Would I recommend BIO FORGE to other people? You Bet Your Ass. I will be purchasing some in the future once my life settles down a little and things become more routine. The great pumps and energy were noticeable right away and continued on through the entire log. Another plus is that this stuff gave me no acne at all, which I sometimes get from other natural test boosters. The price may be a little higher than some of the other products in this category but at least with this one you are getting what you pay for. It delivers what it advertises, which is more than I can say for many products in this industry. Thanks again to THE HUGE, BIOTIVIA, and everyone who followed along. So if you are looking for a good supplement to try out, give BIO FORGE a chance, you won't be disappointed.

OVERALL Assessment of BIOFORGE:
My first 2 weeks of "Endurance" training and 2 weeks of Weight Lifting:

Stamina: Good - I was able to continue through exercises with NO really feeling of exhaustion. I noticed a big difference when NOT dosing BIOFORGE and the need for pre WO stims were eliminated.

Hunger: Normal - Never noticed an increase in hunger

Sleep: Dose dependent - I started dosing at 4 caps/day which gave me insomnia, even when adjusting time of dosing. 3 caps/day did NOT effect sleep.

Recovery:EXCELLENT - This is one of the best advantages to using BIOFORGE! I noticed that the need for rest between sets were GREATLY reduced and muscle soreness appeared less intense on off days.

Libido: Good - I noticed better "blood flow" to the important areas and morning wood was ALWAYS there! At 3caps/day I did not notice being more "horny" using this...just better wood.

I will be using BIOFORGE as my natty booster during my next PCT. This is a very solid product which does not use the "bucket ingredient" mentality of supplementation.
Only the important, and effective ingredients!
To be honest I was a little shocked at how a natty with far less ingredients than most nattys on the market, could give such dramatic results.

I was granted the opportunity to test Biotivia’s BioForge. With Biotiva being new to me I wasn’t sure what to expect from BioForge, but the ingredient profile looked solid.

Prior to this log I have supplemented the ingredients at one time or another solo and/or part of another supplement, with all moderate to favorable results.

I experienced a noticeable increase in libido, which was measured by the increased frequency of morning arousal; as well as, arousal throughout the day, increased sexual desire, and increased blow flow/pumped feeling through my testicles and phallus. Things were hanging lower or feeling fuller than usual in a flaccid and aroused state, which was noticed and appreciated by my significant other.

In the gym, I experienced increased strength gains more than the typical gains I am accustomed to. In addition, muscle endurance and recovery felt increased during workouts, which led to heavier weights and more increased reps, while even decreasing rest.

My muscles looked denser and I appeared visibly leaner, especially upper torso (shoulders/traps, back, and chest, as well as waistline slightly decreased (μ = -.375”) as well as caliper reading for abdominal slightly decreased while gaining around 3 pounds on a maintenance level caloric intake.

This would be in my top 5 natty test boosters, and I would recommend it as well as use it again in the future; however, the price is high when compared to e-vendors, which whom I typically purchase through, because prices are generally higher when/if you purchase from the manufacturer’s site. So, the availability would be an issue in my book; however, Biotivia doesn’t hide the quantity of it’s ingredients behind the typical “Proprietary Blend” label. They clearly state how much of each ingredient is in each capsule, and if one were to take a similar product or try to purchase each of the items separately, you will end up paying more in the end.

If I had to rate BioForge on a scale of 1-5, I would have to give it 4.5. It is nearly perfect, it is hard to find flaws in the product which is well designed and formulated.
