    couldnt really give you the scientific reason but if combined with weight training and cardio i think there are some studies that prove that the people taking protein lost more weight. a high protein low carb and fat diet definetely helps lose weight so using shakes to accomplish that would be beneficial.

    would low carb and fat/ calorie diet with high protein be good for losing fat and building muscle

    calories are fine just keep them clean, eat good stuff, lift weights do cardio and you should get results. if you want a supplement to burn fat look into fat burners. idk your size or your goals
