How Many Calories do you Burn Lifting?

Let's say during a set of 10 reps on the bench, or a set of 10-15 curls, etc. How many calories do you burn? I would imagine more than running - because you are using a lot more strength and doing a more exploding/snapping motion - do you burn maybe 3-5 calories a rep or is that too high? If you're working to failure that is...but then again you're not using as many muscles as running.

Depends on your tempo, intensity, weight being lifted, experience, muscle conditioning, body composition, form, exertion.....no one can give you an accurate answer to this question.
    Lift smart.

I rear ended a car this morning...the driver that got out of the other car was a dwarf !!
He looked up at me and said "I am NOT Happy!"
So I said, "Well, which one ARE you then?"

Pretty sure squatting burns the most calories.
Ultimate goal: to engage in a healthy lifestyle which I can sustain and enjoy for
the rest of my existence. No "diets", no "cycles". Just constantly improve.

you definetly dont burn more calories lifting weights then running or any form of cardio for that matter. unfortunately unless your doing circuit training weights burns hardly any calories at all.

400-500 kcals an hour doing heavy compound lifts. Plus, the bonus when weightlifting isn't the hour itself or the 3 or 4 hours afterwards. You burn calories from the session for up to 48 hours afterwards.

that's a lot of calories - if runners are really skinny, and you only burn about 150 cals a mile, and weightlifting you can burn 400 an hour (i usually life for 2 hours 5 days a week), why am i not 3% body fat?

How many is a REALLY tough question to just throw out there. I no doubt go through 500+/- on a typical workout, but 90% of guys in my gym most likely never break 150.

are they actually pretty accurate cause my heart rate monitor tells me that most workouts i burn over 2000 calories which seems a bit much despite an hour + of cardio and an hour + of light weights
