accounting is really easy after you know the basics inside out. its just all repetition and the math is all done by calculator

Accounting is hard for some and easy for others, like myself.

Once you get the "language" down (debits, credits, which kinds of accounts increase or decrease with debits or credits, etc), you can survive the rest of the courses.

I've seen many just "not get it" and bomb out, so you just have to have the right type of analytical mind for it...plus you have to have a good attention to detail and simply "be good at math".

I took a few more advanced Acct courses and they still didnt compare to my advanced finance. Finance was good at trying to fool the students.
it doesnt seem like accounting does this. its really robotic

You do this, do that, then do this, and boom, there is your result.
but I understand what many mean about some not getting it. debits and credits are a weird concept to grasp at first.
Accounting is something I could never do for a living. I just dont like it

High level management is the hardest because of the workload, and high level economics can be hard due to the actual work. Accounting... no.

Finance and accounting tend to be the harder business majors. Marketing is easier, and most types of management are easier too. There are exceptions for management however, but the typical **** like supply chain management, human resources management, isn't too difficult.

I have friends w/ double majors in management and either finance/accounting and they say management is easier.

I'm finance major. So I might be a bit biased, but I'm going by what friends have said.

I have a BA in Accounting and I am in graduate school for Accounting.

Decided to take an undergrad Finance course called, "Investment Analysis." Sounded interesting AND relevant. Hard as hell, I make lots of FUUUUUUU faces when reading the book.

Regular Finance is pretty easy. This investment analysis stuff is bullsh!t. Portfolio theory, weighing stocks/bonds/options etc. Do not want.

Uhm, yes it is a business major, regardless of what your personal opinion is on it.

no it's ****ing not. My brother took an economics major at Oregon because he didn't have grades to get into the college of business.

And same at my university, it's not part of the college of business. We have finance, accounting, management (few different kinds), and marketing. Econ is just a regular major, part of arts & sciences. It's not a business major. This has nothing to do with my personal opinion. I'm not speaking my opinions. Econ is a social science basically.

Econ is just a regular major, part of arts & sciences. It's not a business major. This has nothing to do with my personal opinion. I'm not speaking my opinions. Econ is a social science basically.
It is a part of most business schools. So it's still a business major.

    Actuarial Science is hard...

Edit: At some schools, they have Econ at the business school and econ at the other schools. They are pretty much the same but business one is a little more hardcore.

If you consider econ a business course then it is harder by a long shot. Otherwise I'de say accounting or finance, don't be fooled by the fact that you took an econ 101/201 class and it was easy either, it acctually requires intelligence once you get past the general ed ones. I'm only a finance minor and have to take a bunch of accounting for that, but from what I've seen as long as you understand the accounting basics 99% of the stuff builds off of that and its pretty common sense.

dude... it depends on what school you go to.

Fisher College of Business at Ohio State has an Economics major, but there is also another Economics major in Social Sciences or some other worthless college. It's both, just depends on where you take it/the classes you take in order to earn your degree.

I was almost and Econ major, but chose Finance instead.

To OP... no accounting isn't hard at all, for me. For others, it is. All depends on the person...

Economics is a ****ing social science, and 2 minutes on google can help you determine that.

It's not a fukn business major. Social Science.

I live in Massachusetts... Tons of business schools everywhere... Babson, Bentley, Harvard, Boston U. I've never heard of it being part of the college of business at a undergrad university.

I even cited University of Oregon as an example, cause I knew I might be regionally biased.

I'm not saying there aren't universities somewhere that offer it as part of the business curriculum, or who's college of business decided to include economics under their umbrella (for whatever various reasons they may have). But it's not a business major, go spend 2 mins on google brahs.

I understand that some of you go to schools that chose to include economics as part of the business department. That's not what I'm arguing.

Personally accounting is the most time consuming and non-social business major! I was pretty good at it but it was pain sitting inside a office quite full of people. I need some excitement so I took up Internation Business and I will be going to HOlland this year for a major.

there's business economics, with an emphasis on business. Sort of a hybrid. But it's still technically a social science, that's all I'm saying.

I know I'm outnumbered in this argument, and I sound like an ignorant prick who doesn't want to hear what you guys have to say. And it's the misc, so I don't expect you guys to give me the benefit of the doubt.

However, if you guys are taking any economics classes, I urge you to ask your econ professors about the field of economics and how it differs from business majors

Hmm my Intermd Macro classes is a business class. So is Econometrics, International Trade... Price theory could be a social science, but the amount of math is about equal to that of accounting & finance classes...

Economics is 100% a science and is much more a science than any program in the Business department.

Whether its a part of the business program or if its a part of the liberal arts wing depends on the school.
