hair is thinng, but shaved-head look doesn't suit me. what to do? (serious)
so, hair on the crown of my head is thinning, and also at the front of my head. I'm 24 and i reckon in 2-3 years time its gonna be pretty bad. The thing is, i can just tell me head and face would not suit a shaved head. What the hell am i meant to do. this sucks

Bro im in the same boat, really bad recceeding hairline at age 19. been shaving my head for past 1yr and a half. I wear hats almost all the time because a shaved head doesnt suit me,mostly because i dont have a tan head due to the hats i wear all the time, but once i get a tan itll look good. All i reccoumnd is to make sure your head has a nice tan to it, and just shave it with hair clippers without a blade on it. itll look good.

^^problem with propceia is that you have to take it the rest of your life to keep the effects of it going, becasue once you stop, everything diminished quikly, same with minoxidil. I was persicrbed it but not going to go with it, going to stay natural. Also, there are some major side effects (sexual). But alot of people have success with it.

I'll also say gradually keep getting it cut shorter, until it becomes painfully obvious.
Find a good barber/hairdresser that knows how to deal with hair loss -- they can do some things with your hair to make it look better than it is.
As it gets worse, start growing some facial hair. This way, it takes the attention to your face and away from your hairline. Wear hats and glasses (if applicable) more.
Good luck!

You don't know until you've tried it you're still pretty young, if you work on your neck a shaved head looks great. Shaved head +skinny neck= cancer victim look, shaved head+thick neck= win!

You don't have many options unfortunately. Getting hair to grow back on the crown is fairly easy using finasteride (propecia) and minoxidil, unfortunately that can get expensive and you're a slave to the medication if you want to keep your hair. The problem with the meds is if you have MPB there isn't too much you can do for the hairline, the best you can hope for is to stop the thinning where it's at and thicken up the hair you currently have, don't count on regrowing areas of the hairline that no longer have hair. It's possible, but not very likely.
If you have MPB, even on the meds, you are just delaying it. May take 5 years, may take 10, may take 20. Might be worth it though, I mean, if you absolutely have to go bald why not make it be late 30s? Early 40s?
Your options are: Shave it all, buzz it, hats, wig (don't do it...), hair transplant, comb over (don't...), or just rock the balding look (probably not good). If you have MPB, you are most likely going to go completely bald on top and towards the back of the head, you'd regret a hair transplant greatly as you get older, I'd advise not to do that. If it's any comfort, skinny bald guys typically look goofy, while muscular bald guys pull the look off really well, even if they aren't all that attractive. View it as extra motivation towards lifting.

If your going bald, dont **** around. Shave it off and put up with it. You have to be pretty insecure to have a problem with your own head! ive been going bald since i was 18. my brother was bald as an eagle at 28. adapt the styles as best you can but once it starts to look abvious, get it gone.

yeah it's giving me some motivation to keep lifting hard. I know it will look better if i am cut and muscular.
This probably wouldn't bother me if i was in my 30's...but seeing as im only 24 it gets to me more
cheers guys

What are the other options? I don't want to fork out a **** load of money to delay the enivatable. Ideal situation right now would be using some product that helps thicken my hair.

My BF started going bald in HS. He was traumatized beyond belief. This was 25 years ago too, Bald was not so hot then.
So what did he do? Worked out, got big, then got intellectual-looking glasses when he needed them. So he has a muscular, but intelligent look.
He looks great. I would never date a guy with hair now

haha.
ive decided im shaving mines today. going number 1. and then beard trimmer all over to leave just stuble. its going to be hard to take that first shave but i think i can do it. and means i dont have to gel my hair in the morning anymore but i am running the risk of looking rediculously stupid.
should i take before and after pics?
