    Extreme Hip Pain, cant open my legs!

    I have this problem where if I try to do the splits, i can get my legs about 2 yards apart before pain. I usually will hold that position then slowly inching my legs open until im maybe 3 yards apart, and in absolute extreme pain, then slowly close them and sit on the couch for a couple minutes so the pain goes away. After doing this I will spread my legs again, and I can go a lot further than I could last time to start. I consiter this my "hip stretch."

    I have tried every other stretch listen on the internet to help loosen my hips, and none work. I find the only way to get them open is my doing my "hip stretch"

    Does anyone know if this is a good method to do to try to loosen up my hips? Is it at all dangerous?

    I feel that my very tight hips could be hindering my gains weight lifting wise and my ability on the football and baseball field. if anyone has any ANY advice at all, please do share. I am put up with my hips and really need to get them loose. Thanks!!

    Increasing you flexibility takes time. It needs to be done gradually.

    And also when stretching, try and do it after cardio or your workout, cus that's much better to increase flexibility.

    You can't expect to have amazing flexibility after just a few days, or one or two weeks. It takes a while for that.

    Keep at it, and just try and make sure you don't put yourself in too much pain cus that will strain your muscles and sometimes make them shorter.

    thanks. Im not going 2 push myself to far anymore. Ill just get to a point that there is no real pain, and hold 3x30 seconds 3 times aday. Also, I cant afford a doctor and the trainer at my school isnt much help. Her solution to everything is "oh, just go home and ice it"
