Age 35, too late too begin bodybuilding?

I'm 35 and looking to start bodybuilding. I've done some weight lifting off and on over the past 15 years, but I've never been consistent or dedicated enough to see any signficant results. I'm wondering if anyone around here has started bodybuilding at this age and seen some big muscle mass gains? Or is it too late for me to have the body I want.

What do I want? I'm currenty 6 ft. tall, 155 pounds, 34 inch waste, small frame, small wrists, some belly fat. I feel like a good goal would be to put on about 15 to 20 pounds of lean muscle over the next two years. I realize that because of my smaller frame (nothing I can do about) that I have to be realistic in what I can accomplish. I'm not looking to become the next Mr. Olympia obviously, but I'd like to think I could still look pretty ripped if I put in the work.

It would really help me to find some people around here who have started at a late age and seen some real results. Or if there are any well known bodybuilders who have started at a late age.

I'm also trying to figure out the best way to go about this. I've read a couple of good bodybuilding books. Read a lot about diet. I just don't know if diet and hard work are enough, or if I should be trying to get into supplements more, or even consider seeing a doctor sometime to check my hormone levels and see if I can get a legal prescrip for hgh or steroids.
I've seen the daily supplement regimine's of some people around here, and it looks pretty complicated if you ask me. I'd like to think that following a strict diet of protein, fat, carbs, calories would be enough.

Anyhow, Just curious if anyone here has some good advice for me?

Well here is the answer every1 is going to give u...
    "its never too late"

Especially when you see reallllly older guy still working out and getting results.

If you diet right and lift hard... and most importantly, stay CONSISTENT... you will see gains. Your body will have no choice but to change. Just put in hard work and you will be fine

You're too old man give it up!!!

KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I just wanted to be the guy who was the designated a*shole for a second haha!!

35 is young man, seriously, you have at least another 40 years or so left, you're not even half way there yet!

Train hard, eat right, research everything you can to the best of your abilities and get to it!

Glucosamine Chondroitin is a must though, helps out the joints! Also, look into some Saw Palmetto for the Prostate, and Iron/Vitamin E as well (the Vitamin E helps with the red blood cell count, and the Iron helps oxygen flow to those red blood cells).

Be careful most of all, but have fun with it!!!! This first year is going to be awesome for you man!! Good luck!!!

My dad started when he was 37/38 with no prior lifting, he lifted for a year and a half and had 16inch arms by the end of it, no amazing feat but hes far from skinny because of it. The body you want is defintely achieveable.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the encouragement. How important do you think supplements are the whole process? I know diet is the most important factor, but beyond protein/fat/carbs/calories, are supplements really as important when you're starting out?

A mens multi vitamin would be essential, as would a joint compound to prtect your joints! Maybe consider some Saw Palmetto for the Prostate, and a basic Whey protein would be fine for now bro!

Eat every 2.5 hours, with a combination of protein, carbohydrates and fats each meal, probably 6 meals a day total. 2 of those meals could be the Whey shakes, with a banana or two...

Stay the course!!!! The sky is the limit and you're best results and gains are yet to come!!! Keep up the good work, and stop by my page for any questions at all!!

Supplements are not very important. Protein powder will help you supplement the amount of protein in your food. Multivitamins with minerals and omega 3s are a smart choice.

    BTW - I started about 2.5 years ago when I was 35.

Hell no. You can still start. Don't let age get you down. There are tons of buff old timers, much older than 35.

I actually see much better gains in my 30's than I did in my 20's. For real ecto's (like me), the metabolism slows down to where you can add muscle much easier. The downside is you can't have full pizza's as between meal snacks anymore and you'll have to do some cardio. Enjoy your newbie gains, you'll have alot if you get on a reasonable program/diet.
