Film "Right America, Feeling Wronged" Are Republicans ashamed of their base?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L78defYvTHE

Alexandria makes a great point, we don't see enough footage of the 58 million people who did NOT vote for Obama. I mean, for all of the criticism, Chris Matthews will go out into the crowd of Obama supporters (and people in general) to interview them on the street. NBC and CBS (and probably ABC) does this all the time. We've all seen stories on these station and CNN and FOX about Obama supporters and marches and demonstrations by "liberals" in general (even before Obama).

But what we haven't seen alot of coverage of is "red state" America. Typically when you turn on O'reilly or Hannity they'll have on a guest like Ann Coulter or Karl Rove to speak to us about the right wing perspective, but rarely do you actually see coverage from the base.

FOX will send their cameras out to chase down "liberals" all day long, but how often do you see cameras chasing down the "Obama = Hitler" crowd who consistently vote against their economic interests?

Without Youtube, most of us wouldn't have seen those Palin "mob" rallies or even footage of the Democratic anti-Obama folks in West Virginia.

Hannity, O'reilly, and the rest of FOX News live largely in New York, not the midwest or rural south. Their voices seem to dictate what those people in who live in red states should feel, rather than reflect who they are and how they really live.

So that's the question, are Fox News and right wing candidates too embarrassed to broadcast their base? I mean, I would LOVE to see Mitt Romney have a town hall meeting where a trailer park woman asked him a question, and he went over to her and kissed her.

I think we need to see ALOT more of the residents in red states on television. With over 58 million people not voting for Obama, it's important that the country knows who they are and how they live and how they think because they have such a large voice in our Democracy.

Saying that the republican base is all full of "obama = hitler" redneck types would be like saying all democrat supporters are inner-city welfare mamas with 7 kids.

She makes too many generalizations.

"some very unChristian moments from the Christian conservative crowd"

lol, pretty much sums up how I feel about the "Christian conservatives" and neo-cons. It's like they wear their religion as a badge (even though religion and politics aren't supposed to be mixed and it shouldn't matter what religion our elected officials adhere to cus they ain't supposed to have the power to impose their will over people....but the people just let them and thus encourage the officials to be of the same religion as them, lol) but yet at the same time they'll say/do stuff that doesn't seem all that Christian and they'll say stuff that doesn't make sense from that perspective so that I don't really know where they got their sentiments from.

Also, on a side-note: when I look at conservatives talking or hear them talk, it's like when politics comes up, they don't just support their stance, it's like they get mad at anyone who disagrees (the left does it too but just puts up arrogance instead of anger, as if you're stupid for not agreeing with them). Anyways, the conservatives/neocons just always seem angry when politics comes up...like they're angry at SOMEthing, whether big government or American leftist economic policy...but just seems like they're SO angry and angry so OFTEN that it sometimes seems like not even they know what they're angry at, lol. Or they'll be angry about something but they can't explain why.

Most of them were probably at work when the rallies were being held. When you actually pay taxes, a mortgage, insurance and car payments there is little time left to go to rallies and protests to be interviewed

Probably because we don't understand why people refuse to use common sense. It's quite aggravating.

Well they make time to create bogus anti-Obama youtube videos, and email smears. They made time to stand in line for Sarah Palin rallies, and create Obama monkey t-shirts and dolls and other anti-Obama merchandise. Are you to tell me that these vigorous defenders of "free speech" and "patriotism" wouldn't make time in their day to speak their mind on television about the very country that they supposedly love? Or are you just saying they're scared?

Some of the hardest hit areas in this economic crisis were small rural towns. So, given that there are alot of people out of work, surely they can find the time to tell us that our President who is trying to help them get jobs (whether you agree with his method or not) is Hitler. Yes, please say that and show your face on national, no, international television.

I was talking about the majority of the 58 million that did not vote for him. Not the fringe minority.

I get the feeling the Obama honeymoon will be a long one, but the wave can't last forever (which may explain why Congress passed his stimulus so fast without really understanding how they butchered it). He rose to the top on the politics of hope and now can use that to do the "the world will come to an end unless you let Big Government save you" approach. I only get Fox News and they have been bashing this stimulus left and right but the bill has been passed way before the Obamaniacs (and those who just don't bother to follow things that will affect them) could see what was really happening.

I'm thinking a lot of conservatives are ashamed of the last 8 years and Obama keeps the shame going everytime he says "we must fix the recession that was handed to me from the last 8 years" as well as other things like Gitmo. So, yeah, right America will continue to feel wronged until republican politicians realize their mistakes, regroup, and fight back. And that won't happen with f*cktards like Arlen Spector voting for the stimulus because apparently he thinks going further into debt is far better than doing nothing at all.

Sorry, this **** is making me cranky

It is the "liberals" who are never heard because the corporations own all the major news outlets. They split the conservatives into two groups and lable one group liberals. Then they will give you the circle jerk by telling you this liberal group is really conservative and the conservative group is really liberal even though both groups are still conservatives of different colors. This way they can effectively shut the "liberals" out of the debate.

Take it from a leading Libertarian...

The Great Conservative Hoax
by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.

For my part, I'm hoping that the whole conservative movement will go down in flames with the decline and fall of the Bush administration. The red-state fascists have had their day and instead of liberty, they gave us the most raw and stupid form of imperial big government one can imagine. They have given America a bad name around the world. They have bamboozled millions. They have looted and bankrupted the country. They have killed tens of thousands.

The Republicans have always been the "conservative" party, but the Democrats have become more conservative and it is now difficult to tell the difference between these two "corporate puppets".

Hear what another leading Libertarian has to say....

The Awful Truth about Republicans
By Robert B. Ekelund

The Republican Party was established as a party of big government and economic intervention. Their reputation as a party of limited government is of more recent vintage and stands on a flimsy foundation.....

In the area of deficit spending and the national debt, the early Republicans, like their present-day counterparts, produced large deficits and national debt. Pre-Civil war Democrats had worked effectively to eliminate the National Debt and to close the national banks.

Modern Republicans have built an unprecedented pile of debt. The growth in the national debt really started to take off when Reagan was elected in 1980 and continued to skyrocket through his second term and that of George Bush, Sr. When Clinton was elected in 1992 the growth rate in the national debt began to decline and almost stopped growing when George Bush, Jr. was elected in 2000. Since then the national debt has skyrocketed...

Favoritism for big business has always been a hallmark of the Republican Party. As a consequence they tend to favor subsidies, public works projects, and regulations that are favorable to incumbent businesses. The biggest public works project in the nation?s history was the building the intercontinental railroads, a policy that truly galvanized the membership of the Republican Party.

Republicans also sponsored the Sherman (Anti-Trust) Act of 1890 and the Act to Regulate Commerce of 1887, which had the stated purpose of protecting the general public but the effect of protecting big business, particularly railroads, from competition. Modern Republicans seem even more in love with public works projects, even in far-away Iraq, and for that matter the moon and Mars.

I highly doubt that's the reason. Or rather it is the reason but not just cus corporations are bad. It's cus they seek money and thus put out what makes money. I'm not of the school of thought that believes the news makes people believe stuff. There are different channels and people watch it even without believing what is said...otherwise you wouldn't even have so many people getting upset over what "mainstream media" says cus they'd be complacent. And also, I believe the news just puts out what will attract more people to watch/read or whatever cus that's what brings in money. So really you can't leave out the part that the people themselves play in this.
