I'd be shocked if a true Olympic lifter exists who bothers with "maintenance calories". More like lift, buffet style PWO, take a dump, watch a movie.
you're confusing olympic lifting with powerlifting

True... but there are multiple weight classes in the sport of Olympic lifting. OP asked, "How do olympic lifters diet to gain strength with almost no hypertrophy or fat gain," which makes me believe he is interested in the ones in the lower-mid weight classes that are stronger per pound of their own body weight. These are the ones who diet down for contests in order to meet their weight category, and typically have low bf%'s.

there is MUCH MUCH MUCH more to strength gain than just gaining weight and getting hyoooge...

your going to get stronger if you put on more muscle and get bigger. BUT, and this is a big BUT you do NOT have to get bigger persay to get stronger.

Depends on the weight class. The heavy weights usually carry a bit of chunk to competitions. Why bother getting lean if you're in the max kilo class? Anyway, it's a very competitive sport; so I'm sure they watch their calories (not to go over too much) so they can stay in their ideal weight class. Plus a lot diet down for competitions which is why they look so ripped.

I work with a few competitive O-lifters, and their diet is nothing out of the ordinary.

Yes. Not to mention ... technique > strength when it comes to olympic lifting.

O-lifting is geared more towards neural adaptation than hypertrophy.
