    Question Frustrated!

Have any of you ever experienced weight gain while eating clean and training hard? I have been eating clean and working out hard for almost six weeks. Initially, I lost 6 pounds but then gained that back plus another three. My trainer says I am increasing muscle mass and I do feel leaner and better ...still ... can't get over gaining weight while eating clean! My work out partner came and got my scale from me before I threw it through the wall! Just wondering if any of you have had this experience?

I don't really pay attention to the scale. Measurements and clothes fitting is how i see if i am progressing.

I always thought i ate "clean" and worked hard until i got my coach and she pointed out things wrong with my diet and training.
I realzied i was eaintg way too many calories, too much dairy and my macros were all WRONG!
i thought i was sweating and working my ass off until she gave me my program and i REALLY pushed myself, i was focused and things started happening.

Re-evaluate your current diet. Take everything in.
Write everything you eat down. Are you drinking alchohol?

Post your current eating habits here and i'm sure one of the more educated ladies would kindly help you out since i am not that great with the macros thing!!!

Basically when i wasn't seeing the results that i wanted i stepped it up hard, quick drinking and really took control!

p.s i also went off my birth control pill and onto an i.u.d im sure that had something to do with it as well.
    GO HARD OR GO HOME

I'm currently experiencing what you've been experiencing with my weight as well. It's been a little over six weeks with my weight loss journey and I haven't seen the results so easily transferred onto the scale. In fact, when I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago, I had lost 5 pounds and then gained it back. I have on the other hand seen the results, as the last poster mentioned, by taking my body measurements. It's astounding how much inches I've lost to date.

Also keep in mind that one could be dieting and working their ass off and not have results take place until at least 2-3 months into their program. So, the only thing for us to do is be patient and trust that by our hard work we will eventually see the changes that we want to see.

Eating clean doesn't alwasy mean that you are eating at a deficit. You need to see how many calories you are taking in. It is true that the scale isn't everything..it is just 1 thing to track progress. You need to take measurements and pictures. I think that will help you see the changes that you might not always see on the scale.

I will say though...in a 6 week period you won't put on 9lbs of muscle. If you are a newbie to training you might be in that sweet spot of losing fat and gaining a bit of muscle, but not that much. You also could be experiencing water fluctuations. That is another reason that we can't base all our progress on the scale. Remember it is just a number of how much you weigh--it doesn't tell you how much is water, fat or muscle.

    Good luck!

Use the tape measure and how your clothes fit. The scale will lead you astray just about every time

More than like you dropped a good bit of water in the beginning, maybe even got a bit dehydrated. Then you recouped the water and added in some nice muscle pump. Thus a really screwy set of scale numbers. Not unusual.

We're are trained and indoctrinated into this idea that you need to lose scale weight. It's bogus. You can drop a significant amount of body fat, add muscle plus muscle pump, drop several dress sizes, and not see much of a scale weight change. So change your thinking and stop weighing yourself!

Thank you so much for the feedback! I am going to start writing everything I eat down ... think I am eating more than I realize. I don't drink but I have been breaking down and eating fruit late at night. You are right about dropping inches but not weight ... went bra shopping and found I have gone down an entire cup size ... now if my skin would just get the memo! lol Also have a trainer three days a week but going to hit cardio harder on my off days.
