Next time you want to bring Bible into Homosexuality, remember this.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a U.S. radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura.
Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with>as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. And that is the end of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them.
1) When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord - Leviticus1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2) I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3) I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Leviticus15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4) Leviticus 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A good friend and biblical student said that this law applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
5) I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6) A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Leviticus 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
7) Leviticus 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Leviticus19:27. How should they die?
9) I know from Leviticus 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10) My uncle has a farm. He violates Leviticus 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? -Leviticus24: 10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? -Leviticus 20:14.
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I’m confident you can be of great help in these matters. Thank you again for reminding us that we must understand that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Muslims don't have the political clout in the US that evangelikook Christians do, whom this is primarily aimed at.
Moreover, that letter was written a while ago and has been circulating the internet for a few years in response to Dr. Laura's specific comments about homosexuals.
i LOLed at the phrasing used!
an enjoyable read...these questions need to be answered by our fundamental and homophobic members!
edit: i wonder if any can answer these questions without using the word "fulfill"?
as in "jesus fulfilled teh lawz"...

A Muslim (who didn't have the political clout in the US-you said) was a Muslim, but a Christian was an " evangelikook".
If you feel more fairly treated by our Muslim brothers, more power to you.
And read on.
I see what you did here.
Instead of actually addressing the questions posed in the OP, you try to shift focus onto Muslims.
This leads me to think that you really have no response as to why some Christians feel the need to cherry pick the no homo law out of the bible while ignoring all the other barbaric laws.

Some of the lesser things in the OP I tend to overlook.
then surely the fiery chasm of hell awaits...

your similar letter to a Muslim radio host about their opinion on homosexuality as well.....
I eagerly await a relevant response. Not really; I know you don't have one, or you would have given it.

Muslims in the US haven't tried to get an FMA passed, nor have they formed "protect the family" organizations. Those are all founded by fundamentalcase and evangelikook Christians.
you want me to answer your questions, and ignore your insults at the same time....
Go back to the Romper Room Channel, Junior.
The OP simply posted something the illustrates how some laws of the bible are ignored and others are embraced. Why would you hate gays yet ignore the laws in that same book of the bible that tell you to stone you neighbor if he works on the sabath?
Instead of adressing this you tried to change to focus to Islam.
The only insult is in you imagination. Or do you feel insulted because there really is no rational reason for a christian to hate gays?

The "barbaric laws" weren't reiterated in the New Testament, homosexuality was.

False. How many times do we have to go through this? I'm not going to let people keep perpetuating this falsehood.

2. Has either Heaven or Earth passed away?
3. If the word "annul" is a synonym for "abolish," then how do you feel about not only misleading people about the meaning of that passage, but doing exactly what it says will be punished, which is taking away some of his commandments?

Cut and paste where I said anything about hating gays.
Fairness doctrine loses again.
It's not all about you. So stop pissing and moaning. If you feel insulted, that's your right. No one can do anything to you that you don't give them persmission to do.
In the same way other people whine that they have a right to their opinions, so do I. And I feel evangelicals are kooks and fundamentalists are fundamentalcases.

Sorry but this trick has been tried many times, and you always fail with it. The burden is on you to point out where you get the authority (based on the Bible, which you claim to hold as your standard in this thread) to ignore what the Savior said about homos being separated from God for all eternity to come. Get back at me when you figure a clever [though non-responsive ] answer. As Mrs Schlessinger pointed out, for sinning per Leviticus 18 you answer to GOD, just as with the other passages you claim (without any basis) are strange or contradictory.

Why is it that people who believe nothing in the bible are so eager to use some part of it to disprove someone else's belief.
A religion has a right to hold sacred any book, or any part there of.
This is why you can't argue a belief with someone.
The Bible is very consistent with the way it views sexual behavior.
What I think is funny is I never see the Prostitutes or the adulters starting a thread about how Christians mistreat them in the bible

Don't act like anyone is attacking the bible unprovoked. Its has nothing to do with anyone being eager to disprove the bible or tell you not to believe anything.
What infuriates people is when certain christians use their bible as means to justify hating or mistreating others. Instead of other christians that use their bible to learn how to love their fellow humans, nature, and how to be kinder people in general, as Jesus said to do.
Since some are using the bible essentially as a weapon then it makes it fair game to be used back against them.

I remember hearing a story one day about 2 pastors who were trying out for the job at a local church. They preached on the same topic, homosexuality, and both of their sermons were on the same level. The church staff chose one of the men and when asked why, the answer was....the one pastor had a fire in his eyes when preaching about homosexuality, the other, had a tear.
The point of the story is, not to hate/discriminate a person, but rather to help with true compassion.

perpetuating what falsehood? The Jewish dietary laws and the sacrifices, and the punishments for sins, as outlined in Leviticus, were abolished, with a perfect sacrifice, Jesus Christ.
