Body Odor and Diet

Okay, I don't REALLY know if I smell... maybe a little... but just to be cautious, and because I'm sweating more often than before, I'm conforming my diet to be "odor-friendly"...

So far I've found the following:
- avoid garlic, cumin, curry, and "hot spices
this is soo bad for me b/c I use hot sauce on everything
- avoid chlorine containing foods like fish, legumes, liver, and eggs
arg i eat so much fish, guess i'm sticking to chicken
- avoid red meat
already do
- limit coffee and alcohol intake
don't drink, but i am a drinking celsius energy drink once a day
- avoid processed and refined foods
already do

I've also looked up on google that cinnamon and pumpkin spice have a nice impact on body odor... well thats good caus I eat tons of cinnamon...

However here's my delay: I use the hot sauce to increase metabolism, and fish oil for omega complex... is there another alternative? perhaps should I start using flax and soy oil to get my good fats?

But I want some further input, maybe personal experiences...

Do you have excessive body odor? How do you know? Is it really worth altering your diet so much?

Body odor runs in my mom's side of the family. I've only had a few "smelly" comments, but those were after not bathing for a couple of days.
I only am intrested in my 'natural body odor' after reading some articles on the subject. And if its another area of my body I can experiment with... why not?

I'm also tending to sweat more often, perhaps because of all the cardio I'm doing, or maybe because I'm trying to increase my metabolism...

Either way I think it would be cool to see what the results are. And I'm little to non altering my diet, since I would mostly only be taking out fish and spices.

Word.

Cutting those foods from your diet = bad in the long run.

I just shower twice a day, real fast. I think this is totally chill and I like smelling nice and feeling clean in the evenings.

Hit the deodorant & get it w/ anti-persparent. There's also some stronger stuff out there that you put on before you go to bed and it helps for much longer.

Dude, frankly it sounds like this is really in your head, and you just need to get comfortable with yourself.

Good luck, and make sure to eat healthy!

Fish oil smells bad.

I take my "healthy" fats from olive oil, PB, and other nuts (almonds, etc).

I am not sure that the effect of hot sauce on your metabolism will be that significant. Is there any proof to this claim? Hot sauce makes you sweat a bit more I think, but the effect is transient.

I shower every day and I do it sometimes right after I go to the gym because I hate smelling bad :O

Garlic.

Back in my swim team days, there was one instance in which a kid on my team had a very garlicky dinner the night before... We lifted the next morning before school and afterwards we all took a shower and the whole shower stank to high heaven of garlic. It was like he was sweating pure garlic.

I gagged a lot.

Even if it killed everyone in a 20 meter radius, I'd still eat garlic. I make lebanese garlic sauce at home. It is the stuff of gods.

it's funny how people worry about the simplest things.
you're fine. dont cut out any of that stuff from your diet.
just take a shower, put deodorant on and stop worrying about "increasing your metabolism" with hot sauce.
just lift, do cardio, rest, follow your personally alloted daily calories, take daily showers and ENJOY YOUR YOUTH
