Starbucks is my guilty guilty guilty pleasure
I can be on a perfect macro schedule and I want to do something that evening with friends or boyfriend. Hello Starbucks routine. 330 calories later, 65 carbs and 32 sugars......i have a problem.
So after my hiatus and 2 weeks of this.......I am 3 pounds heavier and have now made my starbucks trip consist of black java.
And if anyone remembers.......i had my boyfriend HIDE the gumballs.
TODAY: I am better.

I am a starbucks addict as well.
Actually.. any kind of creamy coffee goodness!
I stopped buying all the "chinos" and whatnot from there after finding out how many cals, grams of sugar/carbs and fat are in them!
now i just get a nice dark roast with a shot of sugar-free syrup and actually enjoy the taste of the coffee.
Creamer - sometimes, but it's a cheat!

Or brew coffee at home, add ice and sugar-free flavoured syrup and blend!

I'm a total coffee fiend myself. My FAVORITE thing in the world is a breve latte--a latte made with steamed half and half instead of milk. That sure doesn't feel like 568 calories going down and I used to drink them daily! Sometimes with honey, even. Those were the days.
Fortunately, I like black coffee too, so it was an easy switch.

568!!!!!! jeez...I wouldnt have thought it was that much. Goes to show how much I underestimate calories. There is nothing else in but coffee and half and half?

Nope...you have to remember we're talking about a latte, not a capuccino so half that cup is filled with steamed milk, not just foam (the reason a capuccino is lighter than a latte in the same size cup is a regular cappuccino has far less steamed milk and more foam unless you ask for it "chiaro" or "wet"). Half and half has a TON of fat in it so when you replace the milk with it, fat is where 450 of the cals come from.
Most people really have no clue that the little things they eat (or drink) are as calorie laden as they are. I certainly didn't realize I was doing that much damage until I bothered to look it up.

Don't know what your drink of choice was from starbucks, but I get an iced coffee at dunkins w/ just skim milk then I bring it home and throw a scoop of chocolate protein in it and shake it up really well - Tastes like an iced Mocha!! You could even buy some sugar free whip cream for on top. It would probably work well with other protein flavors too.

Oh got ya...for some reason i was thinking of a "splash" of half and half. Yeah I remeber when I read one of the nutritional pamphlets there I was a little shocked...totally ruined my caramel macchiato cravings

^^sounds good. I really really need to find a good protein that I can drink.
I get the mocha frap or pumpkin spice frap or latte and I do get light. STILL loaded!
I used to drink my coffee 12 oz with 3 tsp sugar and 1 tablespoon creamer and I would have 5 or 6 cups a day. Switch to black and to 2 or 3 cups a day. Lost 3 pounds there!!!

I used to work at a coffe shp and I was really surprised of how many calories were in a small latte or mocha. 3,5% fat milk for a creamier taste + sugary flavor (chocolate) + sometimes liquid sugar for the frappucino.
If you want something that taste good like a treat ask if you can have a regular coffee plus an extra of sugar free syrup ( sweetened with splenda) of vanilla and then you can add a little bit of skim milk. I used to do that where I worked but I don't know if you can at starbuck. But i'm sure they will have sugar free syrup.

My husband and I are the worst Starbuck's addicts. I have a Starbuck's card and a special discount card. I think we went through a phase where we were spending $300 a month just on Starbuck's.
I am trying so hard to lay off the coffee. My new thing is tea. I've been putting tea bags in my purse so that when we go there, I just get a hot water. I know it's a sin...

I work there. Insane, some of the stuff we have there.
I usually get a blended iced coffee with sugar free caramel and soymilk and a few equals.
Yums.
Although, I don't really like the new soymilk. It's very sweet. I wish they used silk unsweetened, that stuff is the sh!t.
making it skinny saves a lot, also minus-ing whipped cream takes off a lot.

Is stevia/splenda that much healthier than Equal or Sweet and Low?

Starbucks combined with Panera bread bagels with cream cheese is pretty much what contributed to the 50 lb fat weight gain I made throughout college. I would have a bagel with cream cheese every morning and those bagels are huge probably about four servings of carbs not to mention how fattening the cream cheese is! Then later on I'd study at Starbucks and have two or three frappucino's all full of sugar and topped off with whipped cream oh boy it was bad bad bad!
Now I just stick to black coffee and it's actually not that bad add splenda and it ruins it.
Go onto calorieking.com they have all the nutrition info for starbucks drinks it's a lot worse than many think!

Their pumpkin flavored latte is incredible!
Last fall, I went to their site and found it was 200ish some calories if I went with the small and skim milk, no whipped cream. Tasty still & fit with my calorie restrictions
Their fruit stella is awesome! but no idea how many calories. So, I avoid going there but for maybe once a month. It's not very sweet, seems okay fiber wise but w/o the nutrion info, I'm at a loss to know how bad/good it is.

Yeah, I was a barista there over the summer...Whip is def made of full fat half&half and A LOT of vanilla syrup. Working there is the reason I gained so much weight!!!
To the OP, before I left, they started to make drinks with their whey protein powder. First the vivano shake, and now you can add protein to your lattes. I'm not sure how much protien is in it, but thought you might like to know!

Not all, just the coffee products. The baked goods would probably not sell as well if people knew how much they are eatting. And yep, I just checked again because I'm really curious about the fruit stella.
oh, I just found an article (thnx yahoo! lol) with the calories for the 'new'ish light menu:
Apple bran muffin ? 330 calories, 8 grams of fat, 7 grams fiber
Baked berry stella ? 280 calories, 9 grams of fat, 6 grams fiber
Power Protein plate with peanut butter ? 330 calories, 16 grams fat, 5 grams fiber
Chewy fruit and nut bar ? 250 calories, 10 grams fat, 4 grams fiber
Perfect oatmeal ? 140 calories, 2.5 grams fat, 4 grams fiber
http://www.articlealley.com/article_620695_26.html
I had thought between 260-300 ish, so I was close!
