squats v front squats

advantages and disadvantages of each

advantage of front squats

1. I workout at home and only have squat stands (no rack) so find it easier to go to fail

Why don't u do both. Say Tuesday is ur leg day, do back squats as ur primary leg movement along with ur other leg stuff. Then the following Tuesday, do front squats as ur primary. Then repeat, just a thought. IMO front squats are great, rarely see people doing them. They really isolate the quad muscles. But nothing compares to a back squat done properly. When I do back squats, I feel it in my quads, hams, glutes, back (sometimes everywhere, lol). Back squat is by far my favorite excercise. Just my $.02

For me front squats seem to isolate the quads better. If you want a bigger butty squats.
