I don't get why people still eat mayo. Talk about useless calories and fat.
Short term Goal: To cut back before bulking like a demon.
Mid term Goal: To find myself.
Long term Goal: To get what's mine.
67 lbs in 9 years and still counting... (started at 100lbs)
It's a hater's job to hate. So let them hate...

I guess my post is somewhat controversial. While I do think its garbage, I still do eat there when I get lazy or just really don't have time. It's just that I would compare it to eating out at other restaurants versus home cooked meals, which of course aren't always practical (but with good time management and a little creativity it can be done). There is no way the heavily processed subway bread (whatever kind), meat (mmm nitrates and sodium), cheese (though tasty), and other potential condiments belong as a lean diet staple. The sandwiches taste good, are cheap in comparison to other similar quantities of fast food, and may appear healtier but belong as a use sparingly food item.
As for my steak, sweet potato and veggies meal...
I shop sales and local stores like safeway and albertsons have sales on 93/7 ground beef, top round, and london broil for around $2 a pound. I buy bulk and freeze so an 8oz steak is $1. Sweet potatos are around $1-$1.50 regular price so a proper portion costs about $.60. Veggies can be had for about $1 for a solid serving depending on sales. using rice, oats, chicken breasts, and cheap veggies can bring meal costs down significantly. Only problem is it takes time, but when you invest time into your body you get more time out of it through increased efficiency of whole, natural foods.Last edited by garbury; 02-10-2009 at 08:50 PM.

Sometimes I get a 6" Meatball Marinara or Pizziola from Subway for lunch, since it's just down the road from my work, and I just factor that into what I eat for the day. I don't rigorously count calories since I am an ectomorph, but I make sure I don't pig out too much, or starve myself too much, and I have stopped eating at places like Taco Bell and McDonalds. I make most of my meals at this point, and generally I have a healthy diet. Not perfect, but eating at Subways a couple times a week won't throw my diet out of whack. It's about the only place I eat out at, anymore. I just can't stand most fast food now.
