    Considering you have to run 3 miles in under 28 minutes just to PASS the run portion if the Physical Fitness Test for the Marines (under 18 mins to get a perfect score).... um... no, 30 mins is pretty damn slow

    it's not too great. but when i first started running it took me about 20 mins to do almost 2 miles. keep running! i shaved a minute off of my mile time (8:40 to 7:20) by running about 1 1/2 miles a day for a week. keep at it.

    10 min/mile is average. I try to keep my longer distance runs around 8:30 min/mile or better.

    On a side note, I've got my 1.5 mile down to 10:17. I'm pretty happy about that.

    Just keep running 5-6 days a week. At the beggining of each week kick the speed up a little bit and run that the rest of the week. 1 day of the week only run 1-1.5 miles but at a much faster pace than normal, running until exhausted then walk for 1 minute then continue.

    When I first started running I was doing a weak ass 11:00/mile for 2 miles, after doing the training above for 2 months I was able to run a 25K (15.52 miles) with an average pace of around 9:03/mile. Like I said before now I'm down into the mid to low 8 minute miles for long distance runs and high 6's for short distance.

    depends on your goals. It would be pretty difficult for me, but I'm not interested in ghey ass running. I just do cardio for teh abdominalz.

    Well considering your Wt and Ht I would say that its not so bad. I can run three miles in 18 min. So just work on it.

    That's an athletic pace.

    You're not running for speed I assume. you're running for cardio. 29 mins is fine for 3 miles.

    Think, fast pace is like 7 mins, getting slower each mile. 7+8+9 is 24. 5 mins more than that is nothing, that just you running at an adjusted speed to match the pace you are running at.

    It is not bad. IT is good.
