Push ups after blowing pec
I blew my pec out, in the Fall of 2007, after working out for only 2 weeks, following a 2 year layoff. It was a huge setback and quite disheartening. And to be honest, even as of last December, I still felt a lot of tenderness in my pectoral. In addition, it hasn't looked the same;which is something I'm willing to accept. *shrugs*
I'm a former boxer, and when I would play around on the bag, I had to be careful, when throwing a left hook. This was just a couple months ago.
Since blowing my chest out, I've been working that muscle slowly. But I've recently, a month ago, started doing one of my favorite exercises...push ups (currently doing 75 in one set). As a result, I've been feeling my pec getting stronger. I've also been hitting the bag, and to my surprise, my left hook no longer irritates my chest muscle.
I think I might just stick with this for a while, until I'm ready to hit the bench press again. There is no hurry.
Push ups are such a basic calisthenic, yet over the years, they've done miracles for my training routine. Love 'em. I remember when I was younger, I had hurt my shoulder. I had to stop benching for quite some time. Had it not been for something like the standard push up, my injury may have lasted longer and my physique would have gone to hell. By the time my shoulder healed, I had pretty much kept my strength on bench.
This is just an FYI, for anyone recovering from a torn pec, and who hasn't yet put faith into your muscle yet, due to tenderness.
