I've been away from the BB scene for a while, Why and when did he retire? He was an incredible bodybuilder and a friendly guy. I met him a few times at some of the major shows and he would always be up for an autograph or a photo.
i think he wanted to follow a movie career ... not sure though
What do we have behind door number two for our winner?
With his tall height and very thick bone structure he needed to compete at over 300 pounds, and dry as rock, just to have enough contrast with his muscles and frame make top 4.
That cannot be easy. That means 340+ pounds in the offseason. The human body will just not stand up to that long term. I bet he is more than happy with his 2005 showing, where he was 300+ on stage, made top 4, and even if not the thickest compared to his height, he was still the heaviest and tallest guy on stage.
That is going pretty far in the sport. Now he is more than happy to only weigh 240-250 (must be easy for him, and much healthier) and to be taking acting classes, getting small movie roles, as well as working with an agent to get bigger roles.
Pro bodybuilding takes a lot out of you. He was fortunate enough to save his money while he was in, and now is focusing on other things.
I think we just be happy for him because he has opportunities outside of and after bodybuilding. He can do more for this sport on the outside. He has a similar charisma as Arnold had. I hope he does well.
This thread needs a pic and some youtubes.

For obvious reasons, I like this guys a lot lol. Wish him the best of luck in the show biz, seems like he is switching from one hard career to an even harder one, in a different sense of course.
with his muscle on a 5'11 frame it would be almost cartoonish
Even at his 6ft+ height he was cartoonish massive. In pictures and in videos, you just cannot tell how huge he is. You would think he had small joints and waist in pictures of him by himself. The only reason his waist and joints looked narrow in pics, is that he made his lats and shoulders so damn big.
His arms "looked" 25"+ around in person, even though he says in contest shape they were only 23". The odd thing is in photos you would swear they are not that big, most would figure 20-21".
It is an unfortunate illusion in photos created by his very thick skeleton, and massive joints. He also has very long arms. He has like a 6'6" wingspan. The humerus section of his arm is proportionately very long, even compared to his height.
Anyone who has met him at the big expos were shocked at how massive he was. You would not expect it from just looking at pictures of him. If you saw him in person, while he was well over 300 pounds, he was colossal however. Friendly too, so much that you can only wish the best for him.
