29 year old accounting brah here:
-slaved away at a Big 4 in NYC for 5+ years
-got an assistant controller job at a solid hedge fund making $150k a year, thought I "made it"
-even more stressful than Big 4 job, tons of responsibility and still working 55+ hours a week
-$150k sounds like a lot but in NYC it really isnt - live in a chit studio paying $1800 month and have a 45 min subway commute
- fuking sick of it - have a ton of $$ saved up due to massive gains in stock market and crypto over last year
Gonna move to SD or Miami or somewhere warm and just want a job with no stress that can cover my living expenses. Have more saved for retirement than most 40 year olds.
What are some good options? Thinking of becoming a mailman or something where I don't have to sit in a cube and rot my life away

Do what you love. I'm sure you can figure out how to make enough to cover monthly bills and benefit from ownership.
The goal is not to work less, it's to do something that doesn't feel like work

Just come to the midwest and make 120k instead and be able to afford a huge brick custom house in a nice suburb.

Been in a Big4 can relate. Dont have much saved up at 28 but prefer not being stressed than making huge money. Anyway OP, can you tell me a interval of your net worth?
I would go for a job at art galleries or some chit like that, but thats because I like art and would love to organize events.

I just moved to Florida from NYC a few months ago. It's 76 degrees here and I think like 20 back there lol. My wife and I have a nice 1-br apartment a mile from the beach in Boca with a luxury clubhouse/gym, pool, grills, putting green, etc. for $1,550 a month. We were paying $2,800 for a similar apartment in Jersey City lol. I have a pretty stress-free job but it's pretty skilled-focused (environmental scientist), so can't really help you there. It's a pretty nice life down here though (although the summer heat sucks).

I knew someone that worked for larger accounting companies, was paid well, and who left due to work stress. He had also been diagnosed with a life threatening disease. He became a barber/ hair stylist. He kept telling me how much he loved his new job, much less stress, and said the pay was better than expected. I don't believe he told me how much he made though. He really did put on a show when cutting hair. I could imagine him receiving good tips from most customers.

I took an "Accounting" job at a University. About 35 hours a week, awesome health insurance, plenty of vacation time, no stress, pay covers all living expenses with extra left over. Make 5 or 6 stock trades a month to continue to build savings. Easy.
I have a nice office but wouldn't really care if I was in a cube. I come in, get my **** done, and leave.
