    Does gum promote insulin rise?

1 carb 5 calories per stick.

Does it boost my insulin levels? Any harm to keto diet weight loss?

    Long story short - no.

I dont want to get into too much detail, but it has been suggested that the sweet tasting gum can confuse the brain and lead to a surge in insulin. But the studies ive read dont show this to be the case.

    I read your comment.

This is not related to the gum raising your insulin levels. During post workout shake it gives you insulin level rise, because of the protein? How this work?

Gum in excess will inhibit fat loss. I have learned that lesson. I am addicted to gum - 2 to 3 packs per day. When I try keto and chew on gum I can never get into ketosis and end up eating more. If you chew gum limit it and you should be fine.

As per Dr. Atkins - in his book - if the Gum or any diet food contains "aspartame" it is a big no no to the low carb diet since it affects the insulin level.

but if it was sweetened by Sugar alcohol it should be OK. Although you shouldn't over eat.

I believe 1 or 2 gums would be ok during the day.

It's really a matter of quantity I think. Almost all sugar-free gums have a carb at least per piece (from fillers and things). If you're a gum junkie going through a pack or two a day, that's maybe 10-20 carbs you've taken in that are sort of "useless" carbs... why do that to yourself if you're trying to go keto?

I gave up gum myself because I found the sugar-free stuff caused me to start craving sugar, just from the taste I guess, whereas without it I totally lose interest in sweets.
