Does Dhea Really Work
Hello All
Bought some DHEA that I am going to add to my daily supplement routine. I hear that it is good for energy and weight loss. Has anybody had positive results from this sup, or is it all hype. Would appreciate any information on this subject mater.

I've never tried it.............. I've seen articles saying it was the best thing since indoor plumbing, and articles that made it sound like the worst thing you could put into your body.

ditto there.
I remember one article (of course it was an 'infomercial') that said every man over 40 should be taking this............
Let us know how it goes.

Do some serious "search" here on BB.com. The general conclusion is that your ovaries will love DHEA.

DHEA is a hormone and can do some good and some bad things to you. 25 grams a day should be ok. though I suggest you do some research on it.

It takes four keystrokes to type "DHEA" into google and sixty-six keystrokes to type in your question about DHEA. Is laziness really your problem?

Yeah, but then he'd have to click on links and stuff....and plus, you have to wait for each link to load. That alone is worth a good 2.5 keystrokes.
What the hell....I'm an enabler: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DHEA

I think you should know the research. This is a previous response to someone -click on "graph."

I didn't like how I felt on it for one ..but this was aprox 5-7 years ago .. Hoping my DHEA levels are still in check.
Some interesting research with a graph.
As you can see, I should be concerned about it right now but maybe I can even wait longer since I'm exercising, herbs, and what not in hopes of delaying its decline. I'm always thinking it best to work with whatcha got...
OP is 49, he could at least go for it!!

In the past, I have tried high dosage DHEA in combination with an anti-aromatase (to try and mitigate the "moob" effect), and did not experience any significant gains. Now 48, I have recently introduced a low dose (25mg) 4-5 days per week. DHEA is an intermediate in the hormone cascade. The low dose assures enough is present to keep test levels up. Tricky business though. Best done in conjunction with blood tests.

QFT
DHEA is pretty much anti-productive for a healthy man. It does not produce more test because your natural feed back system will cap test production regardless of the supply of base hormones.
OTOH, there is no limiting feedback loop to the amount of estrogen that can be produced from excessive DHEA in a man.
OTOH, there is modestly good evidence that DHEA can increase testosterone production in women. But that is a different topic.

My goals-
Today, I want to better then I was yesterday. Tomorrow, I want to be better then I am today.
