Slight discomfort in upper right extremity of femur

I am asking if you guys would recommend me to do alternative exersizes (rather than squats, or lunges) in order to avoid this discomfort, i.e. leg extensions, leg curls, etc. becuase I am afraid I may end up causing a tear, or worse around that area.

In other words, would you consider (if this were to have happened upon you) a light-moderate effort requiring workout albeit avoiding injury?
