Football Dilemma continued
Hey guys,
I was just start off by saying that I appreciate anyone and everyone who posted in my previous football thread. Your posts did help sort me out!
To get to the point I've for the most part decided with sticking with d-line/ d-end. The only thing is is that I'm having some trouble with gaining size which I need to play on the varsity next year. At the end of the season I finished at about 212. I've gotten up to about 223 (which is pretty nice gaining), and in the last week Ive dropped down to about 218?? I really don't know what caused this I havent dropped my eating but the only conclusion I can come up with is maybe Im not taking in enough calories to accomodate my newound muscle mass? Its plausible but kinda sketchy..
Ive made the realization that I need to get f**king big if I want to play next year. Like 237-245. Which in my mind isnt completely out of reach.
Ive been sticking to the clean bulk.. tuna, beef, chicken, potatoes, peanuts etc. It seems that my weight I can't be averaging two pounds a month man and I need to make some impressions by spring ball..
But I'm beggining to think that I need to give it up and eat anything in sight instead of being so strict and conceincious of what Im taking in. Just straight calories. I need some help on what route to go, what I can achieve, and whats ok.

if i was you i would get to about 235ish and move to fullback. if you put to much weight on its going to hurt your speed. im about 6ft and i have trouble at times getting around bigger tackles (6'5 and up) because of there arm length. another thing you dont have goin for you is your stride length when you run. for guys like me and you its takes a stride and a half to get the same distance a taller guy would take. consider moving to fb, most of the time you are having to make plays no further than 10 yards from where you start. i hate having to take on short stocky fb. its like hitting a wall.

yeah man Ive at times almost moved to fullback/ scouted at fullback and done a lot of considering at that spot. We have an amazing fullback/ power running back right now though which is ranked in state as a sophmore his name is Clinton Banks. Hes much more gifted than I am and theres really no chance of making that spot.
I've gotten a lot of suggestions to go to fullback --but Im looking more for nutrition input and some advice on dirty bulking and whatnot. Right now Im sort of in between DT and DE. Im not heavy enough for DT and Im not fast enough for DE. A real dilemma man idk what to do

I would say go for DT, at your height (no offense), it might be hard to beat tackles who have half a foot on you, while at DT you just need to be able to fill your gap and stand your ground.

I found my most gains when I was eating 8 times a day and lifting 2hrs a day, 6 days a week. Went from 255lbs to 298lbs in about 9months. No supplements except for protein powder. Give me your email and I will send you a 4 page document on bulking that I made up for my brother and his friend.
Again I stress I didn't take any supplements. 90% of gaining muscle is dieting, more important than even weight lifting.

why not make the move to pass rush linebacker
at your size it might work out better
unless you dont have any speed

Honestly your lifts look really good to me. What I stress more is being good at your position than being a freak of nature muscle wise. All that muscle won't do you ANY good if you dont have the quickness and skill to tackle somebody.
I started taking Wal-Mart supplements and they seem to being going quite well for me. Creatine, Protein, N0s, and my daily intake of foods.

dude defensive line is the funnest position on the field IMO, we had a sick d tackle that was 190ib i help him a little with double and triple teams but still. dont forgot leverage is a big key, your lifts are ok i would keep at it obviously. if you have a great first step and intial punch you will be fine, work on your footwork to help.

Hi.
A cheat meal here and there wouldn't hurt. You could just up your carbs right after workout and see if that does it. If that doesn't work you may want to check your diet closer.

You could go in between a dirty and clean. Not full dirty bulk but still not a pure clean bulk.

Yeah man I know what your saying- next week Ill come in strong as **** lol I know it-
we've been testing all this week so no AM/PM man, a very nice rest but still gotta keep sharp to get good results. Ive been goin pretty lax on the food and I feel good. Monday I squatted 405 lbs. and benched 265 lbs. Running the 40 tomorrow so I hope I get a great time. Pray for me.
But this break has been so damn nice man you don't even know. Like so relieving and relaxing lol

Speaking from a strictly football point of view man-stick to DT. While you probly wont get big enough to play a 3 front NT or a 4 front 1 tech you damn sure would make a good 4 front 3 tech. As an offensive guard back in my O-Line days it was a real pain in the ass to go up against a short guy that was way strong. Just get strong as hell and be a pitbull in the middle of the line, you will turn heads.
I'm enjoying the hell out of this particular thread. Although I am lot bigger than you are and lift quite a bit more I also need to get bigger and stronger and fast as possible. Keep it coming guys.

That's actually not bad calories wise. If possible try to eat more at breakfast (eggs, whole grain bread, more milk, etc) and eat some tuna or another high protein food once you get home. A protein shake or two with milk certainly wouldn't hurt.

you should really look into LB, you have good speed and size. i have a friend thats about your size maybe an inch taller and only his grades stopped him from playin college ball
if you can lead your defensive teammates and can read offensive plays pretty well strongly consider LB.

Yeah man that and fullback was what I was lookin at- I get the right size and stopping power to play that position pretty good..
I might talk to our D- coordinator and see what he thinks

Ya this is what I was thinkin basically in hard times of scarce food lmao-
lil bit of chicken fried steak and stuff thrown in lol.
Throwing a little bit of "dirty" food in a diet can help up cals a good bit in my opinion and if done right can for sure be of benefit.. IF CAREFUL! lol
