Unfortunately you're too close-minded to see past your own opinions. You're claiming that somehow your opinion towers over anothers opinion; and why? I don't remember claiming that overlapping will prevent results? Again, jumping to conclusions; surprise surprise. If he prevents such overlapping(possible overtraining, even) he may see even more results. Get it? I know it's hard to comprehend, but sit back and re-read several times.. I'm sure you'll eventually soak it up grasshopper.

To OP:
I think this would only be an issue if you are doing some massive squats, like PR day, and using a low bar squat technique. You can really put alot of stress on the pecs and shoulders holding a heavy barbell in position.
But, if you feel ok to do chest, go ahead do it.
I found that I would sometimes get a cramp in my hamstring when benching the day after heavy legs. This is dependant on how much leg drive you use and foot placement though.

I'm not the one using the word "horrible" pointing to someone else's "successful" program. You are!! I find it arrogant of you to think your way will improve on something that isn't broken. I give people the freedom to explore for themselves what will and what will not work for them.
You're hypothesizing he may see superior results from your plan. He also may not. Why tinker with something that is working? If it wasn't then maybe he should move in another direction. But at this time, It's working.

I am in the same situation.
Im doing legs tonight and chest and triceps tomorrow.
In terms of muscle fatigue...there shouldnt be an issue.
The only negative I find from my experience is that i do a big workout for legs and a big workout for chest so being tired on a Saturday is the biggest problem I have.
My training split is:
Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Shoulders
Wednesday - Back and Bi's
Thursday - Rest
Friday - Legs
Saturday - Chest and Triceps
Sunday - Rest
I have worked it this way so that before legs i have a rest day and after chest i have two rest days to recover sufficiently to get back into it the next week.
I make sure that friday and saturday i have enough energy and carbs to do intense workouts...which is controlled through nutrition and diet.
If your struggling in that regards then just make sure you have the juice (energy not steroids !!!) to do both workouts efficiently.Vartuli's Blog -

Great attitude man. Your program is getting you great results. Maybe your body responds well to overlap. I use the same split, but different order:
Sunday: Legs
Monday: off
Tuesday: Chest
Wednesday: off
Thursday: Back
Friday: Shoulders
Saturday: Arms
My off days are unfortunately dictated by non workout related stuff. I'd rather have them on different days.
Maybe I should try your order.
wat?Jesus is my lifting partner.

Your attempts to back pedal and cover any gaps in between any sort of a point you thought you created is proving that clearly... you AREN'T up to par.
You're arguing with someone who has 40 pounds of muscle mass and less height than you that his routine is too much.
Whatever you are doing is clearly not enough.

And to thread starter - your legs will be used to walk your butt from exercise to exercise after leg day and to POSSIBLY stabilize you.
You won't have any issues really with leg day interfering after with your chest exercises.
I always have an off day after leg day. And leg day is the last in my cycle (and the most dreaded) and I see improvements every single cycle. After off day is chest day, and while my legs are the MOST sore on day two, I have no issues.
